  1. $8,999 seem a little high to anyone else? The prices of some of these synths lately seem to have gone up substantially.

  2. yeah that's too much.
They were at about 5k couple years ago even while the AKS was getting a bit more.
I though I paid a lot for my AKS couple years ago, saw the invoice recently, it was just 2250 GBPs! Even though the dollar was weak then that was still less than 5k. And frankly that's all they are really worth. They sound cool but were pretty cheaply made.

Tonetweakers wants 10k now for an Arp 2600. Might be time to cash out.

  3. Couldn't agree more the prices are rocketing. Personally I'd rather spend that amount of cash on two or 3 virtual analog monsters instead.

Mind you the VCS 3 is kind unique but way beyond me.

  4. Well with the dk2 keyboard the opening price is not that bad except that crack kinda sucks. And it likely needs servicing!

But 10k(tonetweakers quote) for an Arp 2600 is laughable, they are not that rare...

And Minimoogs fetching 2500 or more is ridic since there were 13000 or so made...

There are so many great new modulars being made now that the vintage stuff is becoming less appealing.

Don't get me wrong, the vintage stuff is an awesome choice, I have a few, but I'll tell you this, they need a lot of attention, and even after servicing hiccup regularly, some glitches add to the beauty of vintage analog, other times it is simply annoying. Best used in studios where randomness can be sampled etc..
