Just got this so apologies for the short notice, but if you are in New York, check this out. Title link takes you to more info. I have idea what she might bring, but she was a pretty big Buchla fan. : )
"An Evening with Suzanne Ciani Tuesday, November 7, 2006 8:00PM
Guest flautist Matt Eakle will accompany 5-time Grammy nominee Suzanne Ciani in a program of her own compositions."
She was at Moogfest 2004 playing a grand piano with the Buchla designed PianoBar. She was triggering GM sounds. As far as I know her Buchla synthesizer era ended over 20 years ago.
At one time, after the Buchla phase, Ciani was big into the Voyetra-8.
Wasn't she signed to Private Music back in the day? She might be one of the people who got burned when Private went under. Come to think of it, I don't think she has done a lot of recording since then.
too bad she doesn't use the Buchla 200 anymore!

ReplyDeleteBuchla desiged piano bar? Is it any different from the Moog one?
ReplyDeleteRobert Moog & Don Buchla both worked on the paino bar, there is no "buchla" piano bar numb-nuts ;)

Well, according to this, the Piano Bar was a collaboration between Moog and Buchla:

(There's a link off of this page to a photo of Ciani with a Piano Bar-equipped piano.)
Obviously it's marketed by Moog. I don't think Buchla markets its own version, but I could be wrong.
Buchla, the company, came out with it originally and was selling it before Moog took over production and sales.
