There is only ONE Minimoog. Call it a D or E whatever, it's the same synth. Boys, don't be fooled by the Voyager hijacking the Minimoog name for marketing reasons. It is as much a Minimoog as a Korg Legacy is a vintage MS-20. One day when you aren't in Guitar Center or Sam Ash and you walk into a Man's studio that has a Minimoog and play the machine, you will realize not only the difference between the Voyager and the Minimoog, but why, when that God damn thing rolled off the line, they said wait a minute, our company is called Moog Music and we need to sell this crap? We best call it a Minimoog.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had a blog! I'll have to link you up to mine.
ReplyDeleteThe Model E is the Donimoog. Check it out here.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Voyager has a "Model" name, it's just the Minimoog Voyager. I kind of respect the maker, Bob Moog, myself.
The only decent sounding minimoogs were the very early ones made before moog sold his company to norlin. The minis built after 1973 sound no better than the voyagers of today.
ReplyDeleteI keep two books beside my bed. The Minimoog owners manual and the King James Bible.
ReplyDeleteuh, no. i have owned many a minimoog and a moog voyager and the original minimoog is a VERY different sounding machine than the voyager.
ReplyDeletegot rid of the voyager. kept the minimoog.
Did you Matrix respect the "maker" when he put his name on the Opus 3, the MG-1 or the Phatty? Yes you did. Why? Because one can point out the missteps in career of a genius without being disrespectful.
ReplyDeleteJeeze, anonymous. Did a Voyager brutalize your grandmother or something?
ReplyDeleteNo more name calling, kids.
