Anyone know what swirl is/does?

swirl is an lfo that dpes panning among many things

ReplyDeleteSwirl is actually the function of a LF "Quadrature" Osc. this is 2 sine or triangle OSC 90 degrees out of phase..
ReplyDeletethere are 4 of these in the 227e, one for each channel...
it was on some VERY early 204 Quad Panner modules but never made it to the original 227 unfortunately. it was certainly doable with a 281 set to quadrature mode then patched to the pan VC inputs on the 227 Mono channels... you would need to use 2 full 281s or 281es to duplicate the 227e swirler function completely.
i like using the fluctuating random voltages to control the panning in say a two channel stereo setup w/ the 227.
