Somebody tell this guy that synths are not like cars. I don't think it's a good idea to show what's under the hood - it makes you believe the guy has been messing with it. Furthermore, if he's able to take out the cover, why didn't he replace the backup battery? It's often just a CR2032. I must admit it took some work on my SQ-R since the original battery was soldered to the PCB. But anyway, if you have the time and guts to remove the cover, it should be easily doable.
