"Warning: very boring. Shows why Metasonix products are 'costly'. They are hand made in the USA, and the owner of the company does the final assembly and testing on every item, with his own hands."

This is excellent. I'm always interested in the inner-workings of equipment, and the honesty and candid nature of Eric's (don't shoot me - is it with a 'c'?) delivery was refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this, 'Matrix!

This guy's been on a 'how much it costs' kick lately. I've heard other effects company's going on about the same issues; to do it right, you have to build local, and that will always keep the costs/prices high. Turn on a Metasonix, (in a room with one, not on the pootube), and the sound definitely stands out like a black eye, and for that, people will keep on paying.
ReplyDeleteI think he's only been on that kick because, and granted I only belong to Muff's, I've heard heard people remark about how his prices are high (though on Muff's that's more of a 'I wish I could afford it...' note and not of a 'waah, this is unfair' note).
ReplyDeleteIf enough people were telling me that my prices were high, and I got sick of pointing out the (should be) obvious "you pay for quality" fact - shooting a real-time assembly video speaks volumes and does all the talking for you.
As far as QED, I think Eric proved that point in spades.
Go to any average art gallery in any average town and look at the prices of the average art hanging on the wall - I'll bet that you'll find that 75% or more of it costs MORE than (sometimes way more) than Metasonix gear - If you support SONIC art then realize that Eric is almost giving his stuff away - (and seeing Eric as a starving artist adds an extra dimension to his ouevre) I bet Van Gogh was almost as cranky
