"You will notice that the end oak pieces are black. They are actually metallic black. They were refinished because of a flaw and it looks great. You may also notice that there are knobs on the top right that are not stock. I started a tuning modification and decided to to finish. I made one circuit and it worked great but it was only a test. The hardest part of the mod is removing some old chips and putting in sockets with new chips. I have done that. I will supply the documentation for the modification. There is a video on youtube of a finished mod. The instructions I have came from him." videos below
LinnDrum LM-2 with Tuning Modification
YouTube via rolandsh1000 | April 25, 2007
"I modified my LinnDrum so all voices could be individually tuned, which was an acknowledged limitation of this Linn model.
It's a similar mod that some have done to their TR-707. I think it really expands the sound of the LinnDrum.
If you want to do this to your LinnDrum, go to the Yahoo LinnDrum group and go to the files section. The whole writeup is there for downloading:

Linn LM-1 with Front Panel Tuning
YouTube vi a rolandsh1000 | October 24, 2008
"This is a quick video showing the front panel tuning mod that I did to my Linn LM-1. Others have done this mod and it really improves the tweakability of the LM-1.
If this seems a lot like my previous video showing tuning of the LM-2, well..., I guess I was trying to make my LM-2 more like an LM-1. You can judge whether I succeeded.
I am planning on auctioning this LM-1 soon..."
