Flange rate can also be modulated using and external CV input. Some extreme applications of this can lead to some cool harsh metallic effects when applied to percussion.
As with all these Roland rack units, the signal to noise ratio is very good, and the overall sound is warm and lush (unless you want to dirty it up, of course)
