"Here is a great sounding EMS AKS with no KS, many modifications implemented and MIDI control. Difference with the simple EMS Synthi A is that a KS can be connected without jeopardising the power supply, and the KS sequencer can be activated.

It just came back from a thorough service by Belgium EMS specialist tech (February 2022). All aging parts replaced by new ones and full calibration applied. All modifications were originally installed by Piano Center - Paris. List of modifications is as follows : - osc1 left switch : left : shape CV controlled via reverb mix column; right : nothing (original) - osc1 right switch : left : sync osc2; centre : no sync; right : sync osc3 - osc2 left switch : left : shape CV via reverb mix column; right : nothing (original) - osc2 right switch : left : sync osc1; centre : no sync; right : sync osc3 - osc3 left switch : left : shape CV via reverb mix column; right : nothing (original) - osc3 top right switch : left : sync osc1; centre : no sync; right : sync osc2 - osc3 bottom right switch : left : low frequency (original); right : hi frequency (a shape drift is normal when enabled) - attack pot switch : left : short attack time (original); right : long attack time - switch between decay and off pots : right : on time depends on the KS gate signal length (original); centre : KS gate mute; left : on time depends on the on pot setting only, the KS gate is converted into a short trigger - matrix switch : left : output channel 1 signal on row 1 (original); right : KS sequencer CV transposed by the KS keyboard CV, input level ch1 pot scales the transpose interval - matrix switched pot : portamento of the KS keyboard CV or other signal present on row 8 - attack button switch : left : nothing (original); right : portamento of the KS sequencer CV - 4 wired pins : inverter pins - top left corner 3 switches : up : midi controls oscillators frequency directly on MIDI channel 6 (no pin needed); down : nothing (original) - top left corner multi-turn pot : scales the midi to CV converter output - MOD. et VEL. Jacks : likely the midi controller’s modulation wheel and velocity CV - untested The synth's general cosmetic condition is great overall, the only significant flaw being a damage in one of the spartanite case's corners, as seen in the pictures. Comes with its power cable and full set of pins."
