Akai AX-80 upgraded with new firmware, new wooden side panels, new pots, new backup battery and most important: fixed panel buttons. The AX-80 is an 8-voice analog polyphonic synthesizer. dual VCO, CEM filters, mesmerizing LED-graph display, programmable as well as preset ROM-programs, and interesting (and deep) modulation options and performance controls. Very lovely to play, and keyboard in very good order. Some of the preset sounds are very 1980s, but there are two banks for you to program your own sounds. New backup battery, completely new firmware from TaunTek added (chips changed), so now filter changes responds without waiting, and MIDI control is updated, several new parts including new volume pot (so no scratching), and new real and very nice wooden side panels. The flimsy voltage switch on the bottom is removed and the synth set to 220 Volts, but all is complete on the inside, so if there is need to change to 110V this is easy on the inside (requires soldering). All synth have one weak point, and for the AX-80 it is the front panel buttons, or more precisely the connections between the three front panel boards on the inside. This has been completely removed, rectified, old connections removed and brand new installed, so all front panel switches work without trouble. As seen from the photos the synth is well used, with scratches here and there, but technically it is now in top shape. All documentation and files are available digitally for the new owner: User manual, service Manuel, preset sounds files, firmware update info etc.
