Published on Sep 24, 2015 DiscoverNoise

"Discover Noise 007-
Kilpatrick Audio Phenol Patch 005.1-

Updated version of the patch 005 video. The TR-8 midi out is connected to Phenols Midi in. The midi clock from the TR-8 is used to sync OSC1s triangle wave. The triangle wave is then send to the "FM in" of the lowpass filter to modulate the TR-8s audio signal. The wet audio signal is going into "In-1" while the dry audio signal from the "Ext In 2" is going unmodulated into "In-2".

Kilpatrick Audio Phenol - Noise Demo

Published on Mar 5, 2015 KilpatrickAudio

"PHENOL now has a noise output! The LFO random output was basically doing noise at a lower frequency, so it seemed natural to get it working up into the audio range. It's not full bandwidth because the LFOs run at non-audio samplerates, but it sounds really great!"

"About this project

Phenol is a new synthesizer designed by Kilpatrick Audio. It brings the fun and creative potential of a modular analog synthesizer to more people by offering an attractive and approachable musical instrument that is small, portable and sounds amazing!

Phenol is 100% compatible with modular systems because it uses the same voltages and banana connectors as the Kilpatrick Format and similar modular synthesizers.

Whether you already love modular synthesizers and want a smaller instrument for portability, or whether you've heard about modular synths and want to get your feet wet, Phenol offers an amazing instrument at a great price. (Phenol will retail for $849 in stores.)

Sneak peek at some specs:

Banana patch system with colour-coded jacks and voltages compatible with Kilpatrick Format and other modular systems
Two analog VCOs - triangle, ramp and pulse outputs
Two analog filters (low pass and high pass)
Two analog VCAs with level control
Two envelope generator / LFO combos with many unique features
An LFO with sine and random output
