Roland JD-800 meditative ambient pads
video upload by MIDERA

Just trying to get a feel for the JD-800 still. Honestly, it's just too big. I am trading some gear for a JD-990 and wondering what I'll think of that. I feel like I could probably get similar tones from my other gear. So - the JD-800 is on my short list to get rid of, given its size especially. Great synth, but I like the gnarly sounds the D-50 does a little more. Although, I do quite love that the JD-800 has the "Dire Dire Docks" sound from Mario 64. That part is sweet.

Hapynss | Roland D-50 somberwave

"My thoughts on the Roland D-50: https://www.midera-artist.com/roland-...
I will probably update it. I find the navigation is growing on me. Still my least favorite, but I'm coming to terms with it. Had listed this for $400 two days ago... but someone made me reconsider.
It's interesting just how lo-fi this thing sounds, and yet, it has just a really good soul to it. It reminds me of looking back on a good day, and wishing it were still here, but now all you have left is a photo."

One more | Roland D-50, Roland SH-101, Toraiz Squid, Yamaha RS7000 Demo
video by MIDERA
"Had an hour while my daughter was napping, so I made this. I found this preset on the D-50 that sounded pretty cool (starts right at the beginning). I liked it, and just made this jam, or whatever it is.
Really though, not much to add. Now its time to go see if we can buy her a fish. Who knows how that will go..."

What comes after | IDM demo with Roland D-50, SH-101, Yamaha RS7000, Toraiz Squid
video by MIDERA
"Upon writing my recent review of the Roland D-50 (here: https://www.midera-artist.com/roland-...), I decided to reach out to a friend who had bought mine, and I bought it back from him, mostly to see - does the UI really suck as bad as I thought it did?
The first thing to note - it didn't take long for this song to irritate me, so, perhaps this isn't the best track to start off with on the D-50, but as I state in my review, the sound of the D-50 is really pleasing.
So - for some reason, the D-50's interface wasn't quite as bad as I thought. For one reason or another, my brain seems better equipped to handle it. Why is that? I haven't exactly been using it for over 2 years. I think part of it is, two years of exploring other synthesizers, a pandemic, a job change, other things - I think we're just more complicated than 'sit down with X for Y hours and you'll get better.' Like, it took my daughter sitting on a bike 3 times, unmoving, to suddenly... just be biking. So much goes on behind the scenes that contribute to our abilities and knowledge.
Anyway, as I recall - The D-50 is a keeper."

Roland Juno 60 sound demos
Published on Aug 21, 2019 MIDERA
"Borrowing a friend's Juno 60 for a while, thought I'd make a few sounds and give it a good test drive. I didn't use Chorus in any of these patches, to be honest, I don't really like Chorus except on guitar (and even then, I prefer delay, so... I don't know?). It's a beautiful synth, but I think I'm OK not owning one personally."
Some distortion between 5:50 & 7:10.
