Update via Loscha in the comments: "This has a Yamaha YM3812 or similar sound chip in it, the same as an AdLib sound card.The drum patterns are those classic sounds, as are the patches.
The biggest issue to look out for, service wise, is that the connections to each one of the 6 piezo tranducers under the strings is prone to falling off, and requires resoldering.
The rubber on the neck is much more hard waring than Casios DG series.
There's also a MIDI-Only version of the Unisynth, but the note lengths are controlled by a single pot.
It's a great synth, usefyl for the way it makes you play differently, and puts your hand's natural tendancies out of synch."
