KORG MicroKORG Beats The Yamaha DX7?

According to the Big City Music blog, KORG rolled out the 100,000th Korg MicroKorg. Anyone know if this beats the Yamaha DX7? If so, it's a pretty big deal... Update: looks like the KORG M1 holds the record, not the DX7. See the comments in this post.

  1. Wikipedia says 160,000 DX-7s were made, but it doesn't cite the source. I think the Micro will need to be out a couple more years before it can beat the DX-7 or the Korg M-1.

  2. Electronic Musician magazine says Korg made 250,000 M-1s and that is the best selling keyboard of all time.

  3. I guess it should say:

    "Korg rolled out the 100,000th...MicroKorg"

  4. THere were more M1's , DX7's and Roland D50's sold than that.

  5. For what's basically a very retro VA synth that isn't a flagship in the way the DX7, M1 and D50 were, 100k is an extremely respectable figure in the synth world. It even beats the CZ101 (probably more comparable to it than the DX7 or D50) by some 31,500, according to the fallibly omniscient Wikipedia.
