How To Learn Dexed Part 1 - Unboxing and Comparing Yamaha DX7 Synthesizer Parameters

"This is a tutorial video of a free DX7 emulation, Dexed.

My plan was to get Dexed working around mid last year, but I made mistakes and couldn’t get working until recently. I include my mistakes, so that people who want to use this DX7 emulaiton software will not make the same mistake I made again!!

In part 1, I will show how you download, unbox and install Dexed for Mac using Logic Pro X. Then I will take you through each FM synthesis priority parameter, comparing its similarities and differences in detail.

Topics that are covered:

- Feedback
- Oscillator
- Envelope Generator
- Keyboard Rate Scaling
- Output Level
- Key Velocity Sensitivity

Also there are additional features that you need to consider for the FM sound design.
- Operator On/Off

If you know if Dexed has these features, please let me know, as I could not find them in the interface. They should be in the edit screen, as those two features are critical for the FM sound design process."

"You only need to watch this video to learn the true capability of the DX7 and Dexed. This is an accurate sound comparison video and you will get an accurate result. Accurate comparisons & tests require both standard conditions by those factory patches and extreme conditions to push a synthesizer to its limit. This comparison included Power DX7 signature patches that really pushes the FM synthesis further and further.
