πΏ Cybersyn - le rΓͺve brisΓ©
video upload by Mamotreco
"This cinematic synth soundtrack was made using Waldorf PPG plugin emulations and other VST synths. Inspired by the golden age of francophone technocratic cyber-optimism of the late 70s and early to mid 80s, as identified by @GiscardPunk this track was actually written in the early 2010s for a concept album that never saw the light of day.

Electric Cow Sound Chip Synth (aka MiniMOO) for Atari STE/STFM/TT/Falcon - features and sound demo
video upload by ako
Also see the Electric Cow EC909
NOTE: this is the first demo to feature the MiniMOO on MATRIXSYNTH. The only other post to featuring the MiniMOO dates back to this screenshot in 2007. The site linked there, Church of the 16th bit, is still live!
"Quick look at the Electric Cow Sound Chip Synth (aka MiniMOO) for Atari STE/STFM/TT/Falcon - including it's features and sound demos. This programme lets you access and edit parametes of the Yamaha YM soundchip to create sounds and play them back via MIDI. It's fairly decent synth tbh - the oscillator has various detuning, sub osc / 'stacking' options, capable of some nice chorus-y sounds, a noise source, amplitude modulation and LFO for pitch modulation as well as an envelope that can either be used for pitch or amplitude. The latency is useable with MIDI data that does not have too many notes per bar, and you can play it in real time, but if you throw too many notes at it, it gets a bit latent and/or seems to buffer notes and play them back after a delay. Judging by the name, I guess it was meant to be a MiniMoog emulator if sorts - but that's dubious at best despite that it's a really solid bleep bloop machine!
Download the programme from Electric Cow's archive here: https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/mi...

How Solidtrax Built a Synth Track Using Martinic Prodigy Alone
video upload by Solidtrax
"An unedited look inside the production process.
While composing a few demo tracks for Insurgent Circuits for @MartinicCom Prodigy, I decided to make a screen recording of one of the tracks while I was creating it: Prodigy Pulse.
At the end, you’ll hear the finished result. I don’t usually record my production sessions, so this is a rare behind-the-scenes look at how I put a track together. Hopefully, you’ll pick up a thing or two along the way.

Traveler + $10 Reverb = Cinematic Sci-Fi | Liminal Space 2
video upload by Keith Crosley
"Traveler meets Liminal Space 2 RC5, and things are getting gloriously spacious! Your old pal Keith is pairing KeySolutions Sounds' beautiful new synthesizer VST3 plugin with his haunted digital reverb synth for Blade Runner pads, supersaw bells, enormous churches, and a sitar that's somehow MORE SITAR. So grab your mod wheel, pack a spare delay line, and get ready for a REVERBS-A-GO-GO episode of your favorite talky synthesizer content show!
First, we dig into Traveler: its three different oscillators, gorgeous filters, gain staging, and what happens when you feed it KRC Mathwaves. There are a few Windows wavetable-import quirks to discuss. Naturally, I have opinions.
Then it's on to Liminal Space 2 RC5: new Bricasti M7-inspired algorithm banks evolved from impulse-response measurements, new Micro Pitch and Legacy Enhanced pitch shift modes, and the new Scattering diffusion mode. We compare the Bricasti-inspired "West Church" algorithm against its source IR, explore dark rooms with blooming stereo tails, and put piano, drums, and sitar into some wonderfully unreasonable spaces. There's even a Big Ass Spring. Woot!
Versions shown: Traveler 1.0.9 on Windows and Liminal Space 2 RC5. I purchased Traveler myself. Liminal Space 2 is my own plugin.

Semiotic Sequencer – Online Text Based Sequencer
video upload by Mute State
Note the above video is from January 10, 2025. It reminds me of Textquencer which made its first appearance on the site back in 2022. Sequences from Semiotic Sequencer can be exported as a MIDI file.
"The Semiotic Sequencer: Merging Music and Meaning:
https://www.mutestate.com/itu/seq_og_... [link to online version. BTW, "sequence this" makes for a good sequence - just paste it in multiple times. See this link for additional info]
The Semiotic Sequencer is a tool created by jazz musician, composer, and sound artist Tao HΓΈjgaard, known as Mute State. This tool is not just an artistic experiment but a conceptual bridge between music, linguistics, and semiotics. By translating text into musical sequences, the sequencer creates a sensory dialogue between language and sound, sparking curiosity and innovation at their intersection.
Why It Matters
At its core, the sequencer embodies a shared curiosity between science and art—a desire to explore abstract ideas and transform them into tangible, meaningful experiences. Just as science seeks answers and art provokes questions, this sequencer offers a unique way to navigate the uncharted territory between these realms. It reveals the rhythm, melody, and harmony inherent in written language, providing new insights into the musicality of language.

Vult Overon Tutorial — VCV Rack | Complete Synth Voice + Preset Showcase

"In this VCV Rack tutorial, we take a deep look at Vult Overon, a complete synthesizer voice inspired by the classic Oberheim SEM architecture.
We’ll explore how Overon works, its two oscillators, state-variable filter, envelopes, LFO, VCA, internal modulation and normalled signal paths — and how to break those connections to use Overon in more modular ways.
After the tutorial, I’ll demonstrate a collection of presets and patches I made for Overon. You can download them and use them in your own VCV Rack patches.

He put £15000 of Synths into SERUM and Pigments
video upload by Starsky Carr
"I sampled the Frap out of a Magnolia, an Analogue Solutions Maximus, a Pittsburgh Taiga, a Pittsburgh Voltage Lab 2, a Sequential Prophet VS, a Korg DW8000 and a Novation Peak — then chopped them into single cycle waves and turned them into 151 wavetables for Serum and Pigments.
£15,000 is roughly what those seven instruments would cost you, give or take. The pack is £15.
What's different here is what got sampled: full sweeps through the Magnolia's wavefolder, the Voltage Lab 2's complex oscillators, PWM across its whole range, the DW8000's 16 digital waves, the Prophet VS set. Not generic waveshapes — the actual character of specific, expensive, awkward instruments.
It started with a comment. Someone watched my Magnolia demo and asked how to get that tone out of their Peak. The short answer is you can't, because the oscillators don't start with the same harmonics. The long answer is this video.
Along the way I've used it as an excuse to go through the different ways a synth actually makes a tone — subtractive, FM, wavefolding and wavetable — and why the Magnolia can do three of them and the Peak can do the fourth. If you've ever wondered what people mean by East Coast and West Coast synthesis, start at 1:18."

Ableton MIDI Note Mapper

"A drum pattern should not lose its musical identity simply because the receiving instrument uses a different MIDI note layout. A kick should remain a kick, a snare should remain a snare, and a closed hi hat should remain a closed hi hat.

A Private Virtual Roland D-70 for Linux! | Sound Demo
video upload by PixelWings
"I’ve always loved vintage Roland synthesizers and wanted a D‑70, but concerns about dealing with the dreaded maintenance nightmares the D-70 is known for kept me from buying one. Eventually, I decided to make my own software recreation: D‑70v.
This is a private, completely unofficial hobby project running on Linux, created for the pleasure of exploring and playing the wonderful D‑70 sounds. The GUI interface was drawn from scratch in GIMP, inspired by the original keyboard’s front panel, with functional buttons, sliders and a data wheel. The aim was to recreate not just the sound, but the experience of operating the instrument -but optimized for a computer screen as well as being able of running on an absolute potato. The core application is approximately 450 KB, excluding the required ROM data, and CPU usage is extremely low.
This video brings together a selection of my favorite D‑70 factory patches. I spent some time playing through the factory bank and later edited my favorite moments into this demonstration. It is simply an opportunity to enjoy the sounds and share my excitement about bringing this instrument into software. All instrument sounds and effects heard in this demonstration are generated by D‑70v itself. No external synthesizers or effects were used; the clips were simply selected, edited and faded together.
This is not an official Roland product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Roland. It is purely a demonstration, not a software release. The project uses original Roland ROM data, and I am keeping it private. Neither the software nor the ROM data is being distributed, so please don’t request a copy.
Above all, this is a celebration of the D‑70 and an era of digital synthesis that I love. I adore vintage Roland, especially their legacy of late 80s and early 90s instruments, from the pro range to the "DTM" products. I hope you enjoy the demo, and please excuse my lack of playing skills."

SID SYNTH - Turn Your Commodore 64 Into a Live Synthesizer #C64 ⎍∧∿⩘
video upload by LukHash
"Here is a little demo of SID SYNTH, a software live synthesizer for the Commodore 64 and Commodore 64 Ultimate. V1.0 lands on 6 Nov 2026 as a bonus download with my new album 'Neon Airlines', and it is up for pre-order right now:
πΎ https://lukhash.bandcamp.com/album/ne...
Pre-order today and the download link drops straight into your inbox the moment it goes live on release day, so there is no waiting and nothing to chase later. You get the full album with it, and pre-orders genuinely help a release like this land.
⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘
SID SYNTH is a real-time C64 software synthesizer built for playing live. It sits between two amazing programs, the instant playability of Cynthcart and the deep sound design of SID Wizard. That's the middle ground I've been missing. The ultimate tool for live performance on your favourite computer :)
For those who are interested what's under the hood:
Eight waveforms (4 main+combined ones) across three voices (six with a second SID), an adjustable ADSR with hard-restart retrigger, a multimode filter, and fully customisable PWM with its own rate, depth and sweep shapes. Add vibrato, portamento and tremolo, plus switchable ring mod and hard sync. Seven voice modes take you from full polyphony through fifths and octave stacks to arpeggios you can lock to tempo. Then you play it: live pitch bend, vibrato swells and filter swipes you can freeze and latch mid-note, for real expression and sound design beyond presets.
Build your own banks of instruments across 54 slots, save and load them to disk, and jump between sounds on the fly, so a whole set is under your fingers on stage, with a "Live Lock" to keep a stray key from changing anything mid-song.
Full MIDI in adds assignable CC to use with your DAW or any MIDI hardware, program change to switch patches hands-free, and clock sync to keep the arpeggiator in time with your drum machine or sequencer, plus a tap-tempo that sets the arpeggiator's speed straight from the rhythm you tap, so you can lock the arp to your track by ear in seconds.
Twelve reactive visualizers turn a held note into a show, and dual-SID stereo, blackout-clean recording for the real SID chip and automatic PAL/NTSC tuning finish the picture. πΎ"

Tape Fiasco 2 for iPad: the whole plugin, on a tablet

$19, one-time purchase. No subscription, no in-app purchases.
BUILT FOR IPAD
• Standalone app or AUv3 in AUM, Logic Pro, GarageBand, Cubasis, Loopy Pro, Drambo and other AUv3 hosts.
• Load your own audio as the sound source, or start from the built-in factory loop library.
• Record the output and share or save a WAV straight from the app.
• Ableton Link for tempo and phase sync across your network.
• MIDI Learn with mappings that persist across relaunches.
• Two-finger scrolling, resizable and rotatable layouts, touch targets tuned for fingers instead of a mouse.
• Background audio, so it keeps running when you switch apps.
Desktop (AU / VST3, macOS + Windows): https://www.phasefiasco.com/tapefiasco-2"
"Most audio plugins process your sound. Tape Fiasco performs it. Four independent time engines run simultaneously: a dual-grain stretcher that slows, freezes and scrubs in real time; a tape machine with wow, flutter, stop and scratch; a rhythmic slicer that repeats at any subdivision; and BendIt, a circuit-bent buffer mangler with a seven-zone pitch macro from subtle wobble to full DJ scratch, quantized to the host grid. Chain them in any order.
Behind the time engines sits another 30 effects, from spectral filtering and modal resonators to distortion, bit destruction, circuit bending and beyond, followed by a master stage with a three-band EQ, compressor, soft limiter and auto gain.
Routing goes deep. Animate any parameter with multiple modulators: LFOs, random sources, envelope followers, and bezier graph editors. Sequencers stretch, bend and stutter. The Perform section puts four macros and an X/Y pad on the front panel, each routing to up to five destinations with three-point crossfade curves, all recordable as host automation. If it moves on screen, you can automate, sequence, or modulate it."
