SuperStarSaw: Far beyond conventional supersaws!

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We present SuperStarSaws, a new instrument from Native Instruments and A. G. Cook that expands on the concept of supersaws. It has two supersaw oscillators, or swarms, where the individual sawtooth partials can be spread both in frequency and space beyond the traditional detuning associated with supersaws to create dynamic swarms of sound, strange arpeggios, and more. The graphic morpher in the center allows one to quickly and smoothly change parameters between saved settings.

The Tone Garden - free generative browser based synth by Mycelium Sky

via Mycelium Sky

"The Tone Garden is a free generative synth in the browser. Fifteen voices, each hand-written in Web Audio, over a weather-driven ambient ground. Nothing to install, no signup, zero third-party requests — and the whole patch lives in the share URL, so a sound is a link you can pass around.

The licence on the page: anything rendered is free for anybody to use, monetized or not, no credit required — and it's forward-only, so if the terms ever change, whatever's already been made stays free permanently.

Plain fact, since your readers care about this one: the record behind the project was made with generative AI; the instrument has not one AI-generated byte in it. Both stated on the site."

Curves & Membranes 1.3.5 | Node Morphing, Expanded Oscillator Presets & Detune

video upload by Unusable Engineering

"A walkthrough of the new features in Curves & Membranes 1.3.5.

The old Wave Bรฉzier Presets have been expanded and renamed Oscillator Presets. The eight slots now store considerably more of the oscillator state, which makes the sequencer capable of much deeper changes and morphing.

The main additions are:
Bรฉzier to Node morphing stored independently in every slot
None, Clip and Fold modes stored per slot and affected by Preset Slew
a new detuned auxiliary oscillator, with Detune stored per slot
LFO and noise modulation settings stored in the oscillator slots
interpolation of all of these settings through Preset Slew
Copy and Paste for oscillator slots
double-clicking nodes or handles to return them to the vertical center
improved CC4 / foot-controller handling

This means a single sequence can now move between Bรฉzier and Node geometry, introduce or remove folding, change detune, and alter LFO modulation while the waveform itself is also changing.

There are some sound examples through-out the video, and some more focussed ones in the middle of the video, followed by the new workflow features and the updated CC4 / foot-control behavior.

A fair amount of oscillator-core optimization also went into making the additional processing possible while keeping CPU use under control.

Roland MC-202 in a Plugin? | Audio Damage AD-202 Demo

video upload by Autodafe

"The Audio Damage AD-202 is a modern software take on the classic Roland MC-202 MicroComposer, the compact analog monosynth and sequencer released by Roland in 1983. With its single VCO, sub oscillator, resonant 24 dB low-pass filter and simple modulation architecture, the original MC-202 shared much of its sonic DNA with instruments like the SH-101 and TB-303.

I actually owned an original Roland MC-202 many years ago — and, like quite a few pieces of vintage gear I used to have, I eventually sold it. So I was particularly curious to hear Audio Damage's take on it.

AD-202 keeps the straightforward single-oscillator architecture and vintage workflow, while expanding it with modern features including 8-voice polyphony, analog-style drift, MPE, tempo-synced modulation, saturation, drive and distortion.

In this no-talking demo, I'll simply go through some sounds and presets so you can hear what AD-202 can do.

Audio Damage Introduces AD-202 Synthesizer Inspired by the Roland MC-202

via Audio Damage

"AD-202 is a single-oscillator monosynth in the small-silver-box tradition of the early 1980s. One VCO with saw, pulse, sub, and noise running into a 24 dB ladder filter, one envelope, one LFO, and very little else. Every control is on the front panel, there are no hidden pages of options, and there is exactly one path from a knob to a sound.

Under the vintage panel it is a thoroughly modern instrument. Mono or eight-voice poly, per-voice analog drift, a tempo-syncable LFO with a delayed onset, MPE, MTS-ESP microtuning, and a post-VCA colour section with pre-filter saturation, filter drive, distortion, and a tilt EQ. The vintage part is the ergonomics. The rest of it is not vintage at all.

Same as the rest of our catalog: Mac, Windows, Linux, and iOS. No DRM, no subscriptions, no dongles, perpetual license.

The Crow Hill Company Introduces ARCANE STRINGS

video upload by CROW HILL

Press release follows:

EDINBURGH, UK: readily representing its first ‘big’ release in over a year (when the temporarily out-of-circulation GLASS STRINGS was effectively re-released with a totally redesigned GUI and added features as the Edinburgh-based enterprise’s workhorse string library for a new era in more human-sounding music and scores, coinciding with rebranding itself with an aesthetic that truly realised company co-founder and composer Christian Henson’s heartfelt dream of encouraging people to make music and help them on their journey, regardless of whatever point they were at and wherever their journey began), The Crow Hill Company is proud to announce availability of ARCANE STRINGS — taking the sampling rule book and ripping it up, ultimately resulting in a string library featuring amateur players in order to achieve an arcane, primitive, dislocated, microtonal, loose, and sometimes savage sound duly designed for media composers wanting to leave a truly characterful imprint on their next drama score, or, indeed, composers who want to gain extra devilish bite out of their existing string collections — as of August 14…

Minimal Audio Current 50 Atmospheric Arp Presets. Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

✨ "Dreaming Motion" is a bank of 50 Arp Presets for Minimal Audio Current 2, combining warm analog-inspired sounds with soft and airy atmospheres.
The collection moves between retro synth character, subtle analog imperfections, dreamy textures, and spacious evolving arpeggios, giving the bank both nostalgic and modern sides.

๐Ÿ“ฆ The download link: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/curr...
๐Ÿ‘ค The author of the soundset is Ilian.

๐ŸŽ›️ Each preset features 4 Macros for shaping the sound, while the Modwheel adds additional movement and expression.
The macros are a significant part of the soundset. They can change tone, stereo width, modulation depth and rate, noise level, distortion, detuning, space/echo/reverb, effects mix, envelope parameters, and others.
You may control them via MIDI controller, use them for automation, or map the macros to your DAW modulators like LFO, Shaper, and others.

๐Ÿ“ป The patches are perfect for Electronica, Synthwave, Ambient, IDM, Downtempo, Melodic Techno, Chillout, and experimental electronic music.

๐ŸŽน All Arps are designed in either C Major or C Minor, following Current 2’s tonal Arp system. This makes the presets easy to use while keeping their harmonic character consistent. You can change the Scale in the lower right corner of the synthesizer to the one used in your track.

Voidcontrol MIDI Releases the Typhon Unofficial Assistant

Typhon Unofficial Assistant - Demo video upload by Voidcontrol MIDI

"Voidcontrol MIDI has released the Typhon Unofficial Assistant, a software controller and patch librarian for the Dreadbox Typhon.

It brings the Typhon's sound onto the screen, adds full DAW automation, and keeps a library of your patches on your computer. Because the Typhon shares its sound parameters over MIDI but not its patch storage or internal routing, this is an Assistant rather than a full editor: it focuses on live sound control and patch management.

Features:

Live control of every parameter the Typhon exposes over MIDI, laid out by section
One-click read of the current sound from the hardware
Full DAW automation with real automation lanes, not just MIDI learn
A 32-step sequencer that locks to DAW tempo or MIDI clock and plays the Typhon, with per-step gate, tie, velocity and gate length, plus global division, swing and probability
A lossless patch library with naming, categories, favorites, search, and single-file or full-bank import and export
Preset export to .typhonpr for use with Dreadbox's own Preset Manager
A standalone version for use without a DAW
Init and randomize
Resizable UI, 50 to 300 percent
Windows 10 and 11, as a VST3 plugin and a standalone app. Requires a MIDI connection to a Dreadbox Typhon on firmware 4.2 or later. Tested in Ableton, Bitwig, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, and Waveform. A Mac version is under consideration.

Available now at voidcontrolmidi.com for $15.

Not affiliated with Dreadbox. 'Typhon' is a trademark of its respective owner."

The Legendary CS-80 Sound… Without the Price | Fabric Vintage CS

video upload by Autodafe

"The Yamaha CS-80 is one of the most legendary synthesizers ever made — a huge, expressive analog instrument that helped define some of the most iconic electronic and cinematic sounds of the late '70s and early '80s.

Unlike some of the other synths in this series, I've never owned a CS-80 — and considering its size, weight and price, that's probably not going to change anytime soon! ๐Ÿ˜„

AIR Music Tech Fabric Vintage CS is a modern interpretation of this classic performance-focused polysynth, designed to capture its rich, expressive character inside the Fabric environment.

Powered by AIR's Fabric multi-sample synthesis engine, it features two multi-sample oscillator layers plus a percussive layer, with independent filters, envelopes and LFOs, along with extensive modulation, an arpeggiator and a comprehensive effects section.

The sound library focuses on the kind of sounds you'd expect from this legendary instrument: expressive brass, evolving pads, swelling textures, cinematic leads and shimmering bell-like tones.

In this No Talking demo, I'll simply play through a selection of presets so you can hear what Fabric Vintage CS can do without interruptions.

๐ŸŽง No talking — just sounds.

Fabric Vintage CS is available for MPC Standalone, MPC Desktop and major DAWs.

Sound Is Colour – Finally a Synth for Musicians, not Engineers (Abyss II)

video upload by DAWESOME MUSIC

[Alternative ways of interfacing with a synth engines]

"'Klangfarbe' is not a metaphor, it is how our brains perceive sound. But if sound is colour, then why are most synths built like lab equipment?

Abyss II is built on a simple yet radical premise: a synth designed around how we actually experience sound. It keeps you in the flow rather than forcing you into abstract formulas. Just play with colours, as you would mess with paint.

Partials & Discrepancies | Laid-Back Jam with MPE + Unusable Engineering FX

video upload by Unusable Engineering

"A slow, fairly minimal jam that appeared at the end of a testing session while I was working on improvements across the Unusable Engineering full suite.

There are only three sounds.

The pulse / heartbeat-like rhythm comes from Logic’s Drum Synth, processed with Spectral Pressure Chamber and a static Frequency Guillotine setting used mainly for EQ shaping and stereo spread.

The main keyboard sound is Partials & Discrepancies. It is a four-slot patch built from very few partials, but with constant movement between the slot states. That runs through a stereo tremolo sequence in Binaural Modulator, subtle stepped movement from Frequency Guillotine, a slowly modulated Geometry Delay, and a similarly slow-moving Geometry Reverb.

The high drone comes from Curves & Membranes, using two currently unreleased features and some portamento movement. It runs through a slewing Frequency Guillotine sequence, a deeper modulated Geometry Delay, and another slow Geometry Reverb setting.

Partials & Discrepancies is being played from both a Moog Muse over regular MIDI and a ROLI Seaboard Rise 2 using MPE at the same time.

I have started liking this combination quite a lot. The regular keyboard gives you the predictable part of the performance, while the MPE controller can add pressure, slide, and more expressive movement on top of it without having to commit the whole patch to one playing style.

Truth be told, most of my testing sessions ends with something like this. It is a nice way to clear the head.

OktaDie — Organismic Touch Synth on iPad | Drone Demo, No Talking

video upload by Diego Capoccitti

Follow-up to this post.

"OktaDie is an 'organismic' synthesizer for iPad: eight touch-sensitive voices, a cross-modulation matrix, a dual modulated delay and an overdrive — with no keyboard, no scale and no quantisation anywhere in the signal path. No talking in this video: just hands on the glass. Everything you hear is OktaDie running standalone on iPad (AUv3 plugin versions included), played entirely on the eight pads — no MIDI keyboard, no sequencer, no external processing.

๐ŸŽ›️ ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT
The eight generators are closer to a vintage electric organ than to a VCO. TUNE moves each voice continuously across a huge untempered range, SHARP morphs the waveform from triangle to square, and the envelope shapes pitch and waveform as it moves instead of just opening a VCA after it. Voices work in four pairs and two groups, each pair picking its own modulation source — another pair, the Hyper LFO, or the instrument's own output. TOTAL FB feeds the post-distortion signal back in and turns the whole machine, delay and drive included, into one giant FM structure. Noise, bleed and drift are features here, not defects: it never produces exactly the same sound twice.

๐Ÿ‘† PLAYED BY TOUCH
Eight multitouch pads replace the keyboard. Play with several fingers at once, slide sideways to glide from one pad to the next, press harder to open the envelope further — OktaDie reads the contact area of your fingertip, and Apple Pencil pressure where available.

๐Ÿ“ฑ iOS VERSION (iPhone & iPad)
Standalone app + two AUv3 extensions: OktaDie as an instrument and OktaDie FX to run your own audio through the delay, drive and feedback loop. Works in AUM, GarageBand, Cubasis, Drambo and Logic for iPad.

๐Ÿ’ป DESKTOP VERSION (Mac & Windows)
Available in AU, VST3 and AAX formats for all major DAWs. Presets are shared with the iOS version.
