Se ve también el Patch Mutator de NME y el panel virtual del G1 con su pantalla, sus knobs y sus LEDs.

Si vienes del sintetizador modular virtual (VCV Rack, The Grid de Bitwig), esto es el modular de Clavia de finales de los 90, ahora en software. Es una alpha de la comunidad: el emulador no incluye ROM y necesitas tu propia copia de un Nord Modular rack con OS 3.03.

This video is going through the basic workflow in Currents & Nostalgia - using its two oscillators, the filter and the slot sequencers.

The idea is to give you a feel for how it is to work with the synth and how it sounds.

After making a new preset, which in no way was prepared, I play through quite a few of the other presets with a touch of reverb on the output. I use Geometry Reverb (which is free with any paid purchase from unusable.net). In the patch making section I also use a few other effects from Unusable Engineering on the very end. Ensemble Diffuser which is an analog style modulation plugin, Geometry Delay which is a multi-tap delay and Cavitation Fractures, which is a fluid simulator reacting to sound and affecting sound. (They are all available already).

Once again, we've done it. We've meticulously recreated the original OPM (YM2151), OPP (YM2164), OPZ (YM2414) and OPZ2 (YM2424) sound chips in deep emulation from numerous digital captures, including the very many undocumented features. For instance, chipsynth OPMZ allows you to use the OPM's CSM mode in music. We also have a full recreation of the exact pattern and mechanics of its often neglected noise generator, and all the exact quirks of its LFO.

The OPZ chip used in the TX81Z was completely undocumented before the development of chipsynth OPMZ, and so we've done a full reverse engineering, discovering all the mysterious register overlays and previously unknown functionality such as internal volume ramping.

We've also done a deep dive on how exactly Yamaha themselves used the chips in the DX100, DX27, DX21, TX81Z and DX11 synthesizers, including their behaviour and analogue output stage and the DX21's chorus, making the whole package virtually identical.

Just as before, chipsynth OPMZ is based on human researched and programmed emulation code."

Currents & Nostalgia - Coming synth from Unusable Engineering - First Preview - 47 presets - No Talk

"This is the first video showing of some sound examples of the coming software synthesizer from Unusable Engineering.

I am playing almost 50 preset from Currents & Nostalgia - the first 6 minutes are fully dry, after that I have added reverb from Geometry Reverb (which is free with any paid purchase from unusable.net).

The synthesizer is based around 2 circuit modelled oscillators based on a sawtooth-core of my own design. It is a quite classic, simple synthesizer design, brought a bit more to life by two slot sequencers.

The main idea behind the synth has been to build a synth that was easy to understand and master, while having an inspiring core sound. There are no features hidden in menus, everything available is shown in the interface.

The plan is to release the synth in November 2026. It will be available for Windows and MacOS as VST3i and AU. Current bundle owners will of course get a discount. But I have not decided on a final price yet.

AE Machine Preset Tour: This Is Just the Test Bench

"Six minutes through the factory bank of AE Machine, one preset after another, no edits, no post processing.

Two things worth knowing while you listen. First: a preset here is not a knob snapshot. It dresses the entire machine on recall: the voices, the Markov matrix, the modulation, and on the sampler side its own samples, slice analysis, loop region and playback state. Load a preset and the instrument arrives fully clothed.

Second, and this is the part I care about: what you hear in this video is a proving ground, not the point. Behind the factory bank sits a generative preset Assembler. You give it a numeric seed and it breeds entire banks from a mother and a father preset, with probability weights deciding how far each family drifts. Same seed, same bank, forever: your favourite accident becomes repeatable. The factory presets are simply the ones I kept while testing it.

The sample side is handled by a built in library manager: load audio from anywhere and the machine quietly keeps its own copy, so presets never lose their samples, and assigning or unloading a sampler works the way a hardware box would do it.

Monitors or good headphones recommended, most of this lives in the low end.

The generative harmonic sequencer creates af diatonic field of chords from a scale, moves around between the derived chords (or intervals and triads) after a set number of bars (in this case 4) a portal into another scale and key is created ... by either reinterpreting the active chord, mutating on of the notes by a semitone, or converting it into its negative counterpart using negative harmony. In this demo the sequencer controlled an Elektron digitone, a teensy based bass synth (digitaur) and an Elektron digitakt. The sequencer has seven tracks in total, a bass track, a harmony track and a melody track and finally four drum tracks. Besides midi it also has an internal sound engine."

"Overtonium is a 32-partial additive synthesizer laid out like a 32-channel mixer. Every channel is one sine oscillator locked to a harmonic of the played note, and every channel has its own tuning, envelope and modulation.

The control worth reaching for first is TUNE. It sweeps each partial continuously between equal temperament and just intonation. At the just end the partial sits at an exact integer ratio with the fundamental and the whole stack fuses into a single timbre. At the equal end each partial snaps to the nearest semitone and the same stack smears into a chord.

Waldorf Wave (48 voice) Emulation in Software

"This video showcases my software recreation of the legendary Waldorf Wave—a hybrid wavetable synthesizer known for its huge digital oscillators, analogue filters and unusually complex hardware architecture.

The project is built in C++ using JUCE and is available as a standalone instrument and plug-in. Rather than simply making a modern synth that sounds similar, I’ve tried to reproduce the structure and behaviour of the original machine.

The emulation models:

• The Wave’s 250 kHz, 8-bit time-multiplexed wavetable oscillator system
• Signed mixer overflow—including the characteristic Waldorf “ASIC Mix Bug”
• Digital 12 dB high-pass filtering
• CEM3387-style reconstruction filtering, resonant four-pole low-pass filtering, VCAs and panning
• 12-bit stepped control voltages, sample-and-hold behaviour, saturation, noise and output coupling
• Three independent 16-voice WDV boards, matching a fully expanded 48-voice Wave
• The original 480 × 64 monochrome LCD and front-panel workflow

The instrument can also run authenticated Waldorf Wave OS 1.700 firmware. An emulated 68000 CPU executes the original main operating system, while a second runtime executes the genuine WDV voice-board program. Their shared-memory communication, voice-update masks, semaphores and hardware-register writes are reproduced and traced inside the model.

The oscillator ASIC itself remains undocumented, so its internal operation is represented by a behavioural model based on the Wave’s published architecture, firmware activity and known hardware characteristics. This is therefore an ongoing reverse-engineering and preservation project—not a claim of perfect, bit-exact emulation.

These Plugins Sound AMAZING… Except One

"Space Age Strings, Traveler 1.1, Arturia MiniFreak V, and Liminal Space 2 RC6: three plugins I'm excited about, and one that's... fine. Your old pal Keith demos vintage strings, custom wavetable import, Bloom and reverse reverb, and gloriously backward shoegaze. Grab your mod wheel for another episode of your favorite talky synthesizer content show!

First up: Authentic Soundware's Space Age Strings, with gorgeous legatos, vintage ribbon-mic character, and serious Mancini energy. We pair those nine violins with Liminal Space 2's new Space Age Scoring Stage preset and compare the library's built-in reverb with some algorithmic spaciousness.

Then we revisit Traveler! Version 1.1 fixes the big wavetable-workflow frustrations from my previous review: now I can point it at my existing KRC Mathwaves folders without duplicating gigabytes of content. Cue polygonal bells, Morlet wavelet vowels, and a much happier Keith. We also try MiniFreak V's new user-wavetable import. It's great to have it, but I've got opinions about the workflow, the effects, and whether the software version floats my boat.

Finally, we explore my Liminal Space 2 RC6 reverb for macOS and Windows: MIDIverb II-inspired Bloom sounds, reverse-style swells, ACTUAL reversed audio, and instant imaginary Cocteau Twins guitar with Native Instruments' Electric Sunburst Deluxe. We build Bloom effects on piano, shape them with curves and wavetables, and explore Reverse Capture's Diffuse and Clear modes. Then we get dark and wobbly with Clockwarp and the new Vulture 224 filter, inspired by Alex at Vulture Culture. Woot!
