"Brand new FracRack module. The guts are clone of the topology of the famous Buchla 259, built by Pratt Electro, which is NOT BUCHLA. The circuit is reworked in modern surface mount components without the remote control interface. It's tuned for 1V/Oct, with modern Transistor pairs for good tracking. It fits in your Frac-Rack, runs off +/-15V, and talks to all your other modules with 1/8" jacks. This module has two triangle-core oscillators, a visual tuner, a modulation amplifier, and a beautiful-sounding complex waveshaper. I added a reference osc for the tuner and an LED to indicate the signal coming out of the modulation osc. Everything else is just like the original vintage piece.

Philosophy:

There is no such thing as 'boutique electronics.' Apple is charging $500 for a 4g chip (difference in price and tech between Ipod and Iphone) and 100 dollars for 32 GB of NAND. Music equipment is basically the same. The markups on most of stuff you come in contact with are absurd. You bought it from a distributor? It had marketing behind it? It was "reviewed" in a famous magazine? You would be paying markups on those investments too.

But, I'm living in the mountains of Central Taiwan, where I have socialized medicine and low cost of living. Boards are made, assembled, and tuned by electrical engineers in Eastern Europe, panels are made in Germany (Schaeffer Engraved Aluminum). You're getting a good product at a decent price. Period."

This is the first Pratt Electro post.
