The Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music

Interesting. Never heard of this double LP before. Via gm on AH.

"Excellent 2-LP boxed set as in introduction to and survey of electronic music, circa late 1960s.
All work realised on the Moog Series III Synthesiser.
Apart from the first and last track listed, each section is broken down into various examples. "

  3. There is also a single LP version, which my friend has. Black, gatefold sleeve, 8 page booklet, I think.
Is the double LP cut at 45rpm to maximuze S/N or something?

  4. Hey, you don't look that old! My phases were Heavy Metal in the early 80s followed by New Wave/New Romantic, Goth, Industrial, then the whole Rave scene. Thought I was being open to musical styles until I hit college and the Rave days, and then realised what an idiot I was for missing Pink Floyd. Yep. Probably going to take a hit on the number of readers visiting this site on that one... : )

  5. My local public library had the single LP. I chcked it out a lot when I was young.

...back then recordings came on these giant vinyl disks and you had to get the sound from them by mechanical means.

    Let me get my cane...

    :D

  6. Mmmm the warmth of analog vinyl. I have a ton of records I held on to because they didn't come out with CDs for them and a few I just wanted to hold onto. I listened to some Krause last night on my Yahoo! music account. Good stuff. This is the one thing subscription based service kick butt for btw. Just look it up and listen to it. Unfortunately they didn't have The Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music, so will have to listen to that another day.
