Wendy Carlos - Jack Robinson Collection

Click here for some amazing shots of Wendy Carlos.

"[Wendy] Carlos, musician and composer, is one of the great innovators in electronic and synthesized music. He is pictured here from a session in December, 1969. Carlos was the innovator behind 'Switched on Bach' and with Rachel Elkind they were composers on Stanley Kubrick's 'A Clockwork Orange', and 'The Shining'."

  1. I think he was already undergoing the big change at that time. (Hormone therapy)

  2. He looks like he wasn't comfortable in that body.

  3. That's easily fixed. ; ) So anyone know when she changed names from Walter to Wendy? If the shots were take when she was still named Walter than that's what they are. If she was going by Wendy at the time then it should be Wendy. Pretty simple. I'll leave Wendy until I find out as that is probably what she prefers.

  4. BTW, I was trying to figure out what the shots reminded me of. I just figured it out. The guy from Interpol. Interesting.

  7. Is this the segment from the BBC Alchemists video you have on your site? If so, it's great. Actual color video of Walter speaking in front of Moog.

But if I may ask, who is this fellow in the Alchemists video who is constantly popping up in the background? Pretty annoying and no explanation provided from what I see.
Guess he *really* wanted to be in the film. ;-)

  8. Nope. Click on the title link. This is a photoshoot set. I don't think the BBC Alchemists of Sound had Wendy in it. It had Delia though. I also don't have the Alchemists of Sound on my site.

  9. Didn't mean you Matrix, I meant Fatbaron's site.
But yes, Walter had a segment in the Alchemists of Sound video. :)

  11. There is a short segment with "Walter" on the BBC documentary, but she had obviously had been living as Wendy when it was filmed. Same with these photos, men don't trim/pluck their eyebrows (at least no "normal" ones, heh).

  12. Who is Jack Robinson of the Jack Robinson collection?

  13. Yeah, this should probably be updated to NOT dead-name her...
