Well you could start a topic, synths with sticky peel of letters on them that fool foreigners.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously what's really unusual is the Japanese characters on the controls. I've only seen Japanese characters on home keyboards, never "pro" level products... and that speaker clinches it. Japanese home market only. But still unusual that it's uses the word "synthesizer".
P.s. want the .pdf manual? ;-)
oops, that "Beat Magic"is imho a DIY thing ;) maybe the name of the users band or something..
ReplyDeletemoogulator
ndkent, post a link to the manual and I'll copy it down.
ReplyDeleteFunny Moogulator, if that "Beat Magic" label were "real" it could have been the first "groove box" as far as marketting goes. : )
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those scripted pages I think.

use the search box for "sy20"
please please send me a manual? i can't find any online
ReplyDeleteHey, ndkent would not call it home keyboard anymore, if he would get the chance to play one. This one seems to be a kind of a prototype, which never really has left the yamaha factory. Only a few seem to exist. But I will promise you, that the sound is awfull, fat and only comparable to the cs-series and the sy-1 with the one and only gx-1-filter. it has different routings and parameters, which you will not find at any kind of a home keyboard. just wait one or two weeks and we will host some sound examples of the sy20. look at www.tastronauten.de
ReplyDeletethere is one on ebay fr right now: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261042139037
ReplyDeleteThe SY20 really surprised me when i fired it up. Its intuitive (despite the Japanese characters) and the sound has real character. Its smooth, fat and versatile.
