Modular Synthesizer Alternate Controllers on YouTube

Get ready to drool. Title link takes you to a clip of Dan Levey's studio and demos of alternate controllers. The Synthi is out of control. Also love Dan's smirk at the end. Yep, he knows what he has. Thanks Dan. I think. : )

  1. The smirk at the end gave me a really uneasy, creeped out feeling, and I think it should be edited out. Not to be negative, but the rest of the clip didn't show anything particularly interesting.

  2. He's just smirking because he's so stoked on his extremely cool studio setup. I would not ever be able to stop smiling if I had gear like that.

...but I do detect a little bit of "ha ha, look what I have and you don't" ;)

  3. There was a bit of that vibe. Touch of compensation maybe? ;)

LOL! ...I'm not really one to talk, I just added another synthesizer to my mess, not to mention the fact that my modular could eat his for lunch and still be hungry :D

As long as the gear dosent get in the way of his goals for the gear, I say more power to him, smirk notwithstanding ;)

  4. I just smirked cuz I did feel a sort of accomplishment but I left it in because I wanted to finish it like it wasn't some science fair demonstration video but there's a guy who didn't spend all his money on that crap for any other reason than to show off. Why the hell do I need all that crap if it ain't for status. Most analogs ound the same when they're in the mix. Plus, reminded me of how the rappers in their videos stand there with all their gold on looking at the camera like, You want this beeeatch?

  5. Everybody's a critic nowadays.

    'cept me o'course. :)

Now... you need to work on your narrative, characters, setting, production design, composition, shape, texture, space, depth, make-up, costume, music, sound effects, frame, shot, scene, sequence, movement, lighting, colour, script, animation, editing, and cutting.

    And possibly your timing :)

But I loved the shot at the end! Truly oscar material!

    hehe

    ;)
