Numan with Billy on YouTube

This one in via Jordan Gibson. These are great. It amazes me to think this is all live, no MIDI, no sequencers and no computers. And... all analog.

"By the way, I just saw your comments on Billie Currie playing with Ultravox and his involvement with the Numan band (Cars video etc).

Not sure if you've linked to this before or not, but here are the two tracks Numan did on The Old Grey Whistle Test back then, featuring Billie on Odyssey once again. Good Moog Porn too ;) link

Cheers,
Jordan"

BTW, that's Billy Currie in the background.

  1. Currie plays a couple really nice solos on Numan's "Living Ornaments '79" live album, esp. on "Everyday I Die" and the "Remember I Was Vapour/ On Broadway" medley. Sounds like a MiniKorg...

  2. Minikorg? Nah - LO was the Odyssey again, his weapon of choice back then. Actually that reminds me - varius chaps over at dubsounds.com messed around with a version of EDID. You can hear me trying to do the Oddy solo at the end here (it's a bit rough!).

These OGWT clips are a bit raw perhaps - don't think the sound guys had a proper handle on proceedings.

Gary never looked better though eh?

  3. Wow... I never thought an Odyssey could sound so cool. Go figure. Yep, Numan should have let his hair go the way of Joe Jackson, not Bill Shatner.

  4. Nice cover J! Was that a real Oddy or VA? Just curious. It sounds gooooood.
