EMS Putney

Imagine seeing this on the counter of your local pawn shop.

Update via the comments: "it's pauls boutique... they always have something interesting (if a little pricey). This never made it on their site for sale but was in the shop. I guess they figured a prettier penny was to be had at auction (the legitimate one)."

via this auction.  Note the auction claims this one is Brian Eno's. All for just 650 GBP! : ) You be the judge. I'm just putting this up because I like the thought of seeing a Putney sitting on a counter. Like one heck of a synth dream to me.

via Carlo

Update: BTW, readers, if any of you are too dumb to fall for this auction please post in the comments and let me know. Someone in the comments apparently thinks you are.

  1. Who said I think it's legit?

  2. I'm not the anonymous who made the last comment, but if you didn't think it was legit, you should have pointed it out cause someone might fall victim to this crook. This is obviously a scam.

  3. Since when did I become papa synth?
I don't have any inside info on these. I see what you see in the auction. Well it's pointed out now for all the clueless people out there who think they can score a Synthi for 650 GBP previously owned by Brian Eno. Yep... Have a little faith in people guys.

  6. Ah well the auction has gone now anyway. But the find a synthi in a seccond hand shop fantasy is a nice one and was still viable even 10 years ago. Now every bugger is on to ebay quick as a flash. For those who don't have £3,000 may I suggest the Thomas Seelig "Putney" app (mac only) whcih can be found on
    http://homepage.mac.com/thomas.seelig/TheSite/
Its got a very basic interface but does sound more like a synthi than anything else I've tried.

  7. Hi, I'm the one who reported this prick. Every item he "sells" has got the same price, and it HAS to be done outside of ebay. On top of that, the counter pictures are from a Toronto store (dude lives in the UK). THat particular VCS3 was on auction about 6 months ago for real though. What a stupid douche.

  10. Benji, you missed the point. The pics were stolen from a previous, legit, auction. This other dude, from the UK by the way, uses pics of high priced gear and pretends to sell them, through e-mail ONLY, not through ebay. This prick needs to be exposed to the community, 'cause ebay only stops the auction, he just keeps relisting them.
