Thunders is sweeet.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to get another ML 2.5 I think. I really enjoyed it. It worked well with my modular, esp. since it has different colors of mallets, and each can output on another MIDI channel. The encore expressionist made easy work of this, so you can imagine one mallet sets filter levels, detunes, LFO speeds, etc... Rather amazing really. Also, say you strike the mallet down and hold it on the sensor -- you can drag it up and down for pitch-bend or other controller. It's also senses your strike velocity in an entirely different way than a keyboard. I have a MIDI Thru, and found that the ML 2.5, the Continuum Fingerboard, and a Midi Keyboard all sounded strikingly different even though the same patch was set up on the modular. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteI had hoped to snag that Thunder on the bay, but it went for about 500 more than I expected. I got a good deal on my ML 2.5, and the trade was very 'red paperclippy', so now it's just to wait for another. Hopefully at a good price.
If I had an opportunity, I'd even get a bigger ML.
The winning bidder didn't flake. In fact, he paid instantly. And he's a good guy. I'm glad that thing is finding a good home. It fell into my hands quite by chance a while ago & I felt guilty for never using it. What can I say, I'm addicted to 35-year-old capacitance-sensitive touch plates.
