Update to Matrixsynth RSS Feed

Update: I heard back from synthwise. I caught them midflight, so this was somewhat of a misunderstanding. They have added links to my posts and credit. I will remove the comments regarding the site from my posts. My feeds however will remain partial. If you feel strongly about this, feel free to comment.

Original Post:
I have unfortunately discovered that another site is plagiarizing my posts word for word and are not giving me credit or links back to this site. I'm guessing that they are scrubbing my RSS feed along with a bunch of other sites and the whole process is automated. Because of this I will be updating my feed to a partial feed. What does this mean? For people subbed to this site with RSS or blog readers, you will only get a portion of the post. To get the full post you will need to click through to the main site. For people that come directly to the main site, this will have zero impact on you. I have also started adding "This post plagiarized on Synthwise. Find the original post on Matrixsynth" to each of my posts for the time being. Synthwise is the site ripping me and others off. I will not link to them. I set the message to black font so it does not show up on this site, but if you have an RSS reader you will see these messages. Please just ignore them.

BTW, it is unacceptable to copy any of my posts without written permission from me. Putting up Your own post with a courtesy link back to my post and site is fine as it let's your readers know about my site and where you got the topic of your post from. I do it and all the other bloggers do it.

cheers,
matrix

  2. Okay. I'm feeling insane. I'm plagiarizing you in your own comments. :)

  4. But don't you also plagiarize AH and VSE yourself?

  5. How so? Give me an example of a post where I do.

Note that this site is about pointing you the reader to intersting info out there. I write every single post and give credit when credit is due. So do all the other blogs. All content on my site and other blogs come from other content out there. Same as newspapers, news on TV, etc.

Plagiarizing is when you copy someone elses material word for word without credit. I never do that. And if I ever do, please call it out so I can fix it. I assure it it was not intentional.

Again, find me an example in one of my posts and I'll address it and/or fix it now.

This other site is actually putting up my posts word for word. Doesn't change a thing in them. They go up, with all references and links to matrixsynth pulled. That's plagiarizing.

Now if he put up my posts and the title link went to my story here and he said via matrixsynth with a link back here in the body, that would better, but it would still be a copy of my work.

What would be best is if he put up his own post with his own words, with a via matrixsynth link.

That's what I do and all of the other bloggers do. Check out my last Music Thing post for example. I could just outright steel it as that content is on YouTube, not Music Thing, but instead I put one video up off of YouTube, I give Music Thing credit, and I tell my readers to go to Music Thing and check out the other videos. Note I send you to Music Thing where I found the content and not YouTube directly.

I send Music Thing traffic in this case, rather than steal it away and keep readers here.

    Get it?

So, find me the post I plagiarised and I'll fix it.

  6. Oh, and for my AH posts that quote people. I always ask the person first. Check out the Paul Sop post I put up. I got his permission before putting that up. I ALWAYS do that.

  7. same with my blog and the 4 most known synth/musicblogs around..

and: he's not the first and only one.. there are other, when I had the maschinensound.de domain for the news there ware also RSS-"info-thieves".. the only bad thing is: they do not link back and they seem to have it to feed the adsense farm . thats, what comes to mind in my head..

Looks like someone else is also in the running for fucktard of the year.

  11. So turned out it's a one man operation and he's just setting it up as a resource that pulls from his favorite feeds. He added credit and the link. With my partial feeds I'm ok with this for now. But I feel bad for the other feeds he's pulling from. I had no idea until yesterday. I let the ones I recognized know, but who knows whom else he will add and whether he will notify them.

  12. This is the "guy from SynthWise" here. I just wanted to add that I appreciate what Matrix has brought to my attention, and thanks to his sound advice, will proceed with careful attention to "giving credit where credit is due". I never intended for the content on my site to be interpreted as my own, and I thank Matrix for his input. I will attempt to contact people in the future, and I have made it far more easy to find the syndication sources used on the site in several ways, most notably a link on the top navigation bar which links to all the sources this site uses for synth-related info. So cheers, Matrix, for clueing me in on this. SynthWise
