8-bit Prank via La Orange Factory

Title link takes you a new album by La Orange Factory made with the Commodore 64 (C64). It's available for free off of rapidshare. Here's the Google translated page.

"With 8-bit Panik, 41.2 Hz propose to discover under one another angle the sounds 8-bit resulting from Commodore C64 (first computer to include year semi-analogue sound synthesizer going back to 1982), by pushing them in theirs extreme limits, exploiting thus parasitic, low frequencies, childish melodies. The surprising result transport the listener in extreme boxes of the auditive field and in the reminiscence of digital sounds of his youth."

  1. I'd try to listen to this if I didn't have to download a 65M file. Sheesh! How about breaking it up into tracks.

  2. Good lord, are you on 56k dial up? I can't believe someone is complaining of a 65m file that should only take a few min to download.

  3. It would be better if I didn't have to download it through that stupid service

  4. Re bandwidth - Yeah, well I was sitting in a park stealing wireless access from someone's nearby house.

That said, the ironic thing is my connection there was better than at home. The best I can get is 128kbps at $80+/month. The really ironic thing is I've spent the last 15 years off my life designing high speed access systems for telephone companies and can't get it where I live. My current company makes systems for fiber to the home and markets Gbps products to Asia where the services are priced at around $40/month - over 1000x faster at half the cost.

Thanks to the mindless politicians and backward looking telcos in this country that have their heads up their arse.

this album is an 8-bit prank!! it sucks!!
    Wow !
I admit this, and I'm proud of it. As the title say, i did this project with the intention of using all the parasites, noises, and bugs of pure 8-bit live-recording ! So I'm a Prankster, yeah !

    Thanx for your patience
    Peace
    41.2 Hz
