  1. 500 bucks for a Minisynth Mk I? The seller must be kidding... 50-100 bucks is more like it.

  2. Unfair anonymous comment!!! ;-)

Anyways, I haven't ever seen one come up for sale. No eBay history that would indicate that it's that common to go for $100.

  3. (i was the first anomymous - will get an alias any day now ;-)

To be fair i have never seen a mk I be sold, but the mk II has been sold, off e-bay, for around 100 euros the two times i've seen it go the last five years... and i bought mine for a song... litterally ;-)

I helped a guitarist/friend of mine with a couple of chord progressions in a song of his and he gave me the EH Mini as thanks - now is that a nice story or what?

  4. I have seen the only EHX online some years ago at the VEMIA auction for something like 200-300 GBP IIRC, it was the equivalence of maybe 650 CHF.

I got mine in Italy in 1999 for 10000 Lira, worth about 100 CHF, that was before the EURO was introduced ;-)

You can see mine pictured on the Swiss Synthmeeting shots blogged here recently.

I have scans of the user manual and the schematics around, just in case you may need it...

    Georg.

  5. I played one of these things back in the day. There's a reason why they are rare... they were very cheaply built, and flimsy. It does have a killer filter, I'll admit that; on a bass patch it's the next best thing to a Taurus. But the patching and routing options are sparse.

And man, are they flimsy. The one I played (it belonged to the guitarist in the band I was in) had a cardboard bottom panel! The touchpad keyboard was so gravelly that if I was going to play a long drone (which was about the only thing I used it for) I first keyed the note with the main level turned off at the mixer, and listened to it in headphones and wiggled my finger around until I got a steady note. Then I brought it up at the mixer.

Buy it if it looks interesting... but don't buy it with the expectation that it is going to be a useful instrument.

  6. Good one synthbaron. That was pretty funny. : ) For any Seinfeld fans, I just had the image of "My wallet's stolen! My wallets stolen! Somebody stole my wallet! Unfair anonymous comment!"

  7. These do sell for decent money. I have been using EH stuff since it was new and I had the first site on the net devoted to the company,

The "mk 2," had a ribbon control and echo.

I always think that if something is shitty looking (like the keys on this keyboard) one has to wonder about it's over all condition.

They do sound good. I used one on a track recently and I can say that the actual sound quality stands up.
