  2. I'd wear gloves too if I was touching something of such value and beauty!

  3. I heard that it is actually the Penguin demoing this AKS

  4. If the purpose is not to illustrate his programming chops, what are all these videos for? A gloved presentation of a working oscillator oscillating?

First he's "NOT A DEALER!" then he's a "qualified and experienced dealer"
Now he's a synth expert who doesn't program but is a qualified tester?

I've never been able to figure out Minime.

  5. Minime is definetly a weird cookie. Refuses to meet in person to pick up equipment and really tries to hide his/her identity. Matrix?

  6. Come to think of it we don't have much personal info on Matrix either. Maybe Matrix is Mini! Who cares ands why? Maybe they just like their privacy so they don't get their shit stolen. Y'all need to MYOB.

I thought the programming was good. Whoever made those sounds clearly knows what they're doing. That's not just an oscillator oscillating.

  7. The biggest story of the century will be that Matrix is Eldhardt.

  8. "The biggest story of the century will be that Matrix is Eldhardt. "

That can't be, because we all know Eldhardt is Music Thing. And if Music Thing and Matrix are the same person then why are we reading both blogs? Oh, I don't know, I'm so confused!

  9. The truth is I am Elhardt and Matrix is a computer program.

  10. "Y'all need to MYOB."

Wouldn't this statement be you minding *our* business?

  11. "The truth is I am Elhardt and Matrix is a computer program. "

Yes, Eldhardt is controlling Matrix who's really a computer program, but the complete truth is that Eldhardt is also a computer program programmed by Minime, who is 1/2 human and 1/2 synthesizer. It's hard to tell which 1/2 controls which.

No, this would be me teaching you manners.

  14. minime has always struck me, from reading the AH FS posts at least, as a hardcore collector-turned-dealer. Curiously, his more recent posts now refer to himself in the plural mode ("We will be selling..." etc). Anyone subscribe to his, er, their email saleslist?

Surely he's read and/or participated in this thread by now, so *waves to minime*

  15. I've always suspected that minime is rolandman1 or oldsynthguy, one of those people that others have come down on for flipping synths in the past.

I dont really care what he does with his synths I am no communist but his attitude makes me not want to deal with him, if you want to be taken seriously by people you have to be honest and upfront about who you are and what your motivations are.

even dealers like Chris Youdell don't try to hide their identity. I wonder, if he doesnt have anything to hide then why is he hiding?

  16. Who cares? The guy's sharing some cool Synthi videos with us. Doesn't anyone have anything to say about the videos? This is no place for personal put downs or snooping and speculation. Don't you have next door neighbors to spy on?

  17. Some of 8, or so, are nice, but I did owned one, and it is Highly unstable. The guy who bought it from me is now sticked with a dead toy ! Too bad ! I feel sorry for him, but I am happy it not me. :o(

This is quite an ironic comment coming from someone posting anonymously, don't you think? I wonder, anonymous, if you don't have anything to hide then why are you hiding? ;)

  19. This quote's "anonymous" made is actually more ironic:

" if you want to be taken seriously by people you have to be honest and upfront about who you are and what your motivations are."

Which basically means we should ignore you.

  20. i like video 5 the most. that synthi reverb's SWEET!

  21. as much as i'd don't like rubbing ones name in the dirt i have to agree with awakened_yeti on the price gluttony minime123 has done. one mans trash is another mans treasure, but flipping gear like that to such a degree whilst affecting others abilities to purchase it after its skyrocketed past thier change-purse size makes for a rather unfortunate display.

  22. I'm Sparticus!

  23. awakened_yeti and burstgenerator, minime doesnt control prices. supply and demand does. theres tons of other sellers to buy from so if his prices are too much buy from someone else. if you get outbid, its your fault, not his. youre blaming 1 person for your own inadequacies. stop bitching and go out and get a job like the rest of us so you can afford what you want.

  24. Whoever made the Penguin comment. Brilliant. Almost choked because of that one. : )

  25. Regarding dealers. I once picked up a Prophet 5 off a private seller on the bay that turned out to be a lemon. It was listed as the "best Prophet 5 Ever!" If you don't know the seller, you are pretty much on your own. With someone like mini, at least you know he has his reputation and his business on the line, so you can be relatively sure the piece will be in the shape described. Sometimes that's worth the premium.

  26. The biggest story of the century...

    I think I'm a drummer at heart.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree with Matrix.

It's obvious you guys are angry at Minime cause you're jealous you can't afford his prices.

Check out RL Music and Analog US. Their prices are higher than Minime's and when's the last time you saw *them* chatting and sharing videos with us on VSE?

If you're stupid enough to blame any 1 person for high prices it should be Mark Vail, author of the book Vintage Synthesizers, complete with inflated price guide. He coined the term vintage synths and made a career out of hyping everyone's trash into treasure. Thanks to him that old man who bought a brand new Jupiter 8 for $8000 in 1982 can now get more than $100 for it again. What an evil man.

Then blame Ebay for letting buyers with jobs determine market values.

But instead of wasting all that time you should cry to your mommies for a bigger allowance so you can afford the things you want instead of showing everyone how bitter you are that you're poor.

  28. Personally I can tell you that I've been buying stuff from Mini for about 8 or 9 years and he's been nothing but a pro.

Yes he does wear those rubber gloves all the time, it's strange but I'vce seen way worse, I won't even comment on some synth user's hygene or weight issues.

I have a feeling Mini didn't start the high prices, they've been there since he was Microme.

BTW I am not Mini either.

  29. Sorry, but if you chose not to seek the maximum profit potential for an item, the only person to blame is yourself. If he can double his money on something, then more power to him.

I routinely sell items for $100 I pay $1 for. Should I feel guilty about somehow "exploiting" the people I purchase my resale goods from?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey awakened yeti, jealous much?

Next time you have a no-profit sale for one of your synths let us know.

And fyi -- that means you'll have to sell that 303 you picked up for $100 at that car boot sale for $100. No profit allowed because we don't expect to see any markups from a person with as much integrity and as little motivation as you.

  31. Mini just told me this by private email:

"yeah, i read them but ive been through too many pointless flame wars to want to get involved in another - its a complete waste of everyones time. people whove done business with me know im honest and worth dealing with, and thats whats important to me. others can speculate and complain all they want but it just makes them look bad. over the years ive been accused of being all these different people i dont even know. its annoying because ive worked hard to develop such a good rep with my customers and dont think anyone else should benefit from that but at the same time some of the stories people have come up with are so far fetched they crack me up. so i guess it all balances out. ;) awakened_yeti doesnt know what hes talking about. im sure hes never seen me buy anything and resell it the same week. first of all i havent been active on ebay for almost a year and when i was i was only selling, not buying, and 2nd i dont think ive ever bought and resold anything that quickly because the testing, servicing, burn in and retest process takes a long time the way we do it with our tight schedules. i do admit though i also get annoyed when i see people buy stuff and flip it right away cause its obvious theyve done little to deserve their markup when they couldnt possibly have had time to test it right - or even receive it in some cases! thats definitely not our style. we spend a lot of time, money and energy on the items we sell and our customers know and value that. anyway im glad you enjoyed the synthi clips. nobody seems to have had anything negative to say about them so i guess they werent all that bad. :) this was a trial but maybe well get into the habit of taking videos of other rare synths before we put them on the market.
    thanks
    mini"
