IDM SESSION 3

"Another track recorded while I recorded it, if you can understand that. Using and OB-12, AN200, DX200, DR660 and sequenced with FL studio. If you have any tips on how to record audio into a sound card and recombine it with the original video or any type of camera that can record good audio with good video (at a reasonable price) I am all ears."

  4. Sorry to break the string of "I hear..." jokes... I just wanted to give props on the blinged out watch you are wearing.

  5. I hear this is why I can't stand IDM anymore because everything either sounds like 1998 Funkstorung or "crazy " Aphex. As good as this track may or may not be, the 'sound' i s definitely played out. Nice gear tho

  7. I don't really understand why he uses so much gear. Most of it is digital stuff if I remember correctly (PCM drum machine, with the Yamaha AN and DX groove machines, some electribe stuff it looks like), that could be done in software. Since he is sequencing in fruity, he should just use all fruity with software plugin and midi controller.

Or, he should get a good hardware sequencer and drop fruity and go all-hardware if he prefers hardware.

Why choose an all-in-one music application like fruity, and then go the hardware route for DIGITAL synthesis? If you are going to compose and sequence on a laptop, why not use the laptop for synthesis too?

  8. I like the sound of this pretty much.

It's also a lot of fun working with Hardware. Changes the process a lot.

  9. sounds like FL studio, things are rather badly out of pitch as well.

  10. I also like when the notes aren't so exactly in pitch. That's cool by me.

And FL Studio is awesome. Don't be a hater.

  11. Hear hear! the world could stand a little more detuning.

I was at a cafe yesterday and they had an 80s top 40 compilation playing in the background.

one of the things I thought was interesting about 80s music (prior to DX bass, D50 Shakuhashi and Obie horns taking over) was the use of detuned strings, organs and synth pads.

The organ at the beginning of Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" and most of the synth leads and pads from Talk Talk's "It's My Life" are good examples of detuning used to great effect.

Getting back to the YouTube clip, I can't say I'm a big fan of what now passes for IDM, but this guy's heart seems to be in the right place.

  14. I dont sound like Autechre, Funkstorung or Brothomstates. Thet all use granular synthesis and are very clean, I like the dirtier forms. Maybe those are the only ones you all have heard of, there are thouseands more that created IDM house to IDM dub. You dont know shit cause you dont pay attention.
I switch my gear up all of the time, I have much more gear and software and musical tatstes than you may think. I use hardware because the sound is ultimately beefier than software, plus I like to edit with dedicated sliders and knobs, and makes it less crowded on my sound card, plus I am partial to hardware. The an200 is making the chime melody only, the dx200 is making the duh fm synth melody only, and the ob12 is making the mainbass melody. The DR-660 is maikng all of the drums. No sounds are coming from FruityLoops, only sequencing. Did you know that computers sequence a lot better and easier than hardware, especially for odd time signatures and rolls? Maybe not since most of you dumbasses listen to boring uncreative, unsyncopated drumloops.
I am glad you moved on 'AWAKENED YETI', it seems the world is progressing with you with you back to the neo hippie era that everyone has already played out as well. Fuck you, you dont know shit about me. Everything is played out but really, what is playedout in definition? IDM sure has fuck not gone mainstream. What constitutes it? Is it only good if it is cool? Cool as in elitist lesser known? How shallow and misguided you motherfuckers are. I didnt put my video on here, MatrixSynth did so I was tiold by a friend that this shit was going on on this dumb site. But isnt that neat? My music is out there so musch enough for it to back back around to me, DOES YOURS? IF YOU POST ANONYMOUSLY YOU ARE A COWARD. Have a great life.
