well I understand the KP3 but what is that stylus driven box on the right???
ReplyDeleteThe other piece of equipment in the video is a Nintendo DS running Electroplankton, haven't had a chance to play around with it myself but I've been DYING to putz around with that one-of-a-kind, weirdly intuitive looking interface.
ReplyDeleteBTW just popped on here to say kudos to porchka66 for taking two items that are WAY too easy to use in a gimmicky or downright unlistenable way and showing how they can be used to make something that's actually enjoyable to watch. Yeah there are a couple awkward start/stops in the progression of the "song" but seriously, it held my attention the entire time and had me bobbing my head which nowadays is a pretty rare thing in this gear-obsessed world.
Much deserved respect Mr. Porchka66, let us know if you've got a website or anything we can check out for more tunes!
Thats a Nintendo DS and Electroplankton. Here are some posts that mention Nintendo including Electroplankton and Toshio Iwai, the developer behind it. He creates some interesting instruments including the Tenori On.
ReplyDeleteOoooo I can't wait, I completely spaced on the fact that the KP3 can output MIDI and you using that to control realtime vis in Quartz sounds REALLY neat. Is this setup particularly for a live setup or else to record with? I ask because I think what you were getting out of that combo (especially considering it's a tech demo and not a full-out music effort) would sound nice recorded even if it didn't have the accompanying video. Keep on rockin'!
