It is not a moog!,Bob is dead, this brave man has been manipulated over all those years.
ReplyDeleteAnd now that the poor guy is no more, they still try to make money while adding signatures and glossy posters, its a shame...
But be carefull what you do!,the man is still there and your all been watched!
Stop trolling. We all know the Little Phatty had Bob's blessing.
ReplyDeleteEverybody 'knows',but the last (young)generation of synth lovers don't !
ReplyDeleteThe truth can not enough been repeated!
Greetings,SOMAX
Bob Moog tribute "kit"? Comon, the man's dead. Yeah, we appreciate everything he did and all that. But at what point does it become some sort of sick marketing scheme?
ReplyDeleteYou guys really need a hobby or something. I mean, does it sound good? Does it do what it says it does? Is the price right? Who the hell cares if it comes with a poster and a CD? Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI seriously have trouble believing that this keyboard was Bob's idea, or that it even had his blessing.
ReplyDeleteanonymi: It was, and it did have his blessing. Maybe you folks don't understand- the poster, the CD, Bob's signature... these things are all done out of a deep and sincere love for Bob Moog, and a desire to recognize and honor what he was and what he did. That is genuine... genuine expressions are often derided as gauche or cheesy by the overly-hip, but anyway it is what it is... take all the potshot you like about trying to make money or cashing in on a name, it doesn't make it so. Do you think that the right and respectful thing to do would be to stop making new synths and go out of business? I don't. Furthermore I think Bob deserves tributes and glory, and it isn't a bit sick or shameful to put in an honest effort towards that end. Synthbaron: "Yeah we appreciate everything he did and all that." -come on man, that's terrible. You don't sound a bit appreciative, you sound jaded and cynical. That's unfortunate.
ReplyDelete> You don't sound a bit appreciative, you sound jaded and cynical.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to take criticism from an employee.
You make it sound believable, Amos. It's easy to tell that's how you truly feel. But I don't think you are the man making big decisions around the company, are you? You are one loyal employee. I hope the company you work for appreciates all the help you do for them online.
ReplyDeleteThe silly thing about this is no one really knows. : ) I mean who exactly are you people talking about? What do you mean when you say Moog? Is it the president of the company? It's employees? Bob's spirit? What are you all talking about? BTW, the Ts, hats and all of the other "silly" merchandise started under Bob's helm, including the high prices. All the different flavors of the Voyager? Think about it guys. The troll dropped his bate and you all bit. Suckers. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo here's an interesting question. What do you think would be different had Bob still been around and why? Don't disregard the Voyager and all of Moog's marketting material that was around when he was. What would be different? Maybe instead of the tribute edition we'd have the signature edition? BTW, I have a signature edition and I wish it came with the marketting material the Little Phatty came with, so that's my two cents.
ReplyDeleteokay i'm convinced. The LP is allright.
ReplyDeletewouldnt a better tribute be to start making 900 series modules again?
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the 'troll' its me S.M.X!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing to troll, the truth have to be public.
This synth is superb sounding and beatifull, thumbs up for the designer.
But,... its not a moog! (not a 'bob moog')and never will be!
I hope the family of bob get enough money for it,but i thing that the (smart)guy that have invest in this will be the one with the biggest (false) smile.
The poor man was utilised and manipulated,he got a little job for his last years to live from, but all others makes the big money with his name.
It has happen to all those great synth pioneers, look Don Buchla,a prime example!
Now wath hurts me the most,is that they add his signature '360°' around the synth now hes no more, adding a glossy poster with printed on it 'moog is still alive' FOR What!!! are they afraid that sales goes bad now he is gone!!
Ofcourse its that, what do you think.....
amos,it have unfortunately how you try to turn it out, both sides
ReplyDeleteif they want to show respect for the man, built a bronze portret (statue)of the man,but not add posters or cd in a'special' synth edition, sorry this is just to push the sale...
Ofcource a cd or poster on sale appart from the (non moog)synth is better,(and fans will appreciate it)but the total of benefit from the sales of this items most go to the family.
I have one of the very last video documentary with bob ,and at the factory, and i almost have to cry when i look to it each time.
ReplyDeleteI will see if i can UL it..
SOMAX
Another example where you can meditate abouth it...
ReplyDeleteThe coy of the moog modulars like those from.com or cotk.
Is that calling respect to someboddy, copy from the original design?
Those men that put the invest into manufacturing the copy modules aren't in any case respectfull people,it was only due to make money...even if at start it was for 'fun' or own interest to remake, soon or later when sales rules out it turn into a pure commercial thing!
All those happy .com owners don't realize how maybe it could have hurt bob inside by bying copy's of his products,we will never now,he can't tell us anymore :(
So what! ,some gonna say, thats good let's keep on copy....
Hi Somax,
ReplyDeletewell I think your heart is in the right place. Maybe we disagree about whether the posters & marketing stuff is respectful or not (and I can see your point), but we both agree than Bob deserves a big bronze statue somewhere... ;)
I get very wistful and teary-eyed when I see videos of Bob still alive, too. I really miss him.
"wouldnt a better tribute be to start making 900 series modules again?"
ReplyDeleteBooyah! That's what I would have liked to see! I would have been all over those.
How can you say the poster and CD are just to boost sales? I don't think anyone would buy one who wasn't planning on buying on in the first place just because "Hey that one comes with a poster". It's not like the little phatty is a Justin Timberlake CD.
ReplyDeleteYeah, modules would be pretty sweet. Start by porting the Moogerfoogers into rack modules, of course samller to conserve space.
ReplyDeleteAmos, all I can say is you are one lucky man. I don't want to encourage you saying something that might get you in trouble, but so far you have been a pretty good voice for the company. It's definitely clear that you are not "evil" as some bizarrely like to label those left at Moog. I really don't understand that mentality. I just can't imagine Bob wanting people to think this of the company he left behind. It's just rude and disrespectful to me and a huge ridiculous cliche. It's a predictable and pretty dumbass response in my book. You could do a psych study on it. It's bizarre how people pass judgement without really knowing. It's more a reflection on who they are rather than the company they are bashing. Now if Bob clearly stated he was against this sort of thing then yes I'd give merit to the argument, but all of tha paraphernalia and special editions came with Bob.
S.M.X., if you have any proof aside from mere speculation, please share it.
> It's more a reflection on who they are rather than the company they are bashing.
ReplyDeleteOne should always question the motives of a for-profit company.
Howabout a psychoanalysis on those who practically worship certain synth brands and ignore any funny business?
So what's the funny business with Moog since Bob left?
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing ridiculous at it,its real live....sadly.
ReplyDeleteAlso ther is nothing to prove - just watch the marketing for any product, clothes, food anything ,they add stickers, flippos,cd anything just to push sales, specialy when its a new product that have do been launched, the limited edition sales are expected to be sale quick,so it can buffer easy the investment of the (this) new produckt.pure commercial,iv nothing agains that, but here the misuse a legend.
As for the 'manipulation',you don't have to be a genius to understand.
Who's gonna take the risc now in this hard days to manufacture a synth like the new buchla but without the buchla name! For sure it won't sell!
So some 'rockfeller' with some money to 'waste' see the light to multiple is investment,by using a legend name.
Same happen with moog.
Think larger not focus just on synths but the way humans act,the synths are not importand.
To be clear i just wannna add this,
ReplyDeleteMy goal is not to destruct the brand or people behind this and forthcomming products anyway.
The moog produckts are first class build, engineered and sounds wonderfull.I have some mooger foogers,an some friends of my have the voyager.I can only recommend these produckts!
Just want to make understand that the poster 'moog lives' doesn't fit at all.
