Custom Voyager Table

No title link. Just a shot of a custom table via Robert. The table was made by a friend of his.

  1. Now that things have calmed down, I'm going to throw another log on the fire. To my ears, the sound of the Voyager is so thin & un-weighty it makes the Studio Electronics SE-1 sound full & warm by comparison. That would not be a problem but for the word "Minimoog" in the instrument's title. Maybe "Multimoog Voyager," but...

  2. I think it's just more capable of a wider range of sounds; it's easier to get thinner sounds on the Voyager, but the beef is there when you want it. You just have to work it a tiny bit more. I also noticed the volume seems a tad lower than some other synths, so turning it up a notch in the outboard mixer seems to help. Don't forget to detune the Oscillators. Another "trick" is to start with one OSC, filter wide open and then add until you find what you like. Sometimes two OSCs sound more pronounced and three starts to muddy the sound. It can be a challenge getting that fizzy in your face brute force patch like in a Mini, but it can be done. I think it's just another case of having too much on the synth - all of the other setting mask the basics. The Andromeda is like this as well.
