There's a big market in Japan for DTM (Desk Top Music) which in a nutshell is tweaking the hell out of General MIDI and XG a note at a time with a computer. I don't know about other parts of Asia but I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few other markets. I'd characterize it as separate from the home keyboard market because it's much more computer oriented but is still quite separate from the whole 'groove'/techno/dance market. A lot of people recreate pop hits and animation and game soundtracks with their DTM stuff
