  1. Never been a fan of MOTM myself. Just don't like the format. I think the build quality is great (as well as the filter selection), but I get more mileage out of Modcan these days. Since kits are no longer available, I think the MOTM has lost more than half of it's appeal.

  2. I'm so freaked out by my Modcan (in a good way).

Soon I'll be over 50 modules.

Since April, it's really been the only synth I've played with, 'cept Plogue Bidule when I'm travelling.

MOTM seems fine in my opinion. I'd like more color in the design, but apart from that it sounds good.

Still, Modcan (and if you look at Cynthia) has crazy variety. Anyway, Modcan series B works just fine with MOTM size anyway if you want and that universe is pretty vast.

Still, I went with Modcan A (banana) and the variety of stuff is crazy.

    e.g. Filters:
Minimoog 02a Low pass, High Pass, Moog 904a, Multimode, CEM Lowpass, EMS Diode Ladder Filters, ARP Filters, Triple Bandpass, Fixed Filters (EQ really), Synthacon, Twin Wasp, Quad Bandpass, Quad Lowpass Gates... It's just nuts! They all sound sooooo good.

Also: There are probably over 30 modules just for CV processing.

    Doktorfuture big fan Modcan Format.

Well, supposedly you should be able to buy "panel, PCB, and bracket" kits starting at $79 shortly. But I wish he'd add extra holes to accomidate other brands of board mountable pots. Last time I checked they were something like $9 each vs. $1 for the pot that all the other synth designers use (and even Paul is using on his Frac Rac modules).

  4. Why is someone talking about Modcan? They don't have kits.

Modcan is fine but it's not the final word in synths and neither is MOTM. They both try to recreate a lot of other synth's old designs especially filters. Modcan just did that CV delay, so that's something new to the retail field. MOTM doesn't have a lot of core modules based on Serge for better or worse and came up with a number of innovative new kinds of modules too.
