The paias were sold in two cases that folded up.
ReplyDeleteNot so strange, but much of this shot is black drapery anyways.
He needs more cases! :)
Wow. When we were teenagers, my brother used to send in the bingo cards from magazines like Modern Recording and get brochures from companies. PAiA sent us a whole catalog! I learned a lot about the basics of modular synthesis from reading that PAiA catalog. I always wanted a 4700 system, but back then I couldn't hack $25.00 for a VCO. :-|
ReplyDeleteOf course, we all know now that most of that old PAiA stuff was designed to be inexpensive as possible, to the point of being flimsy and barely functional in a lot of cases. However, in my teenage imagination, John Simonton transformed into Keith Emerson. Great memories.
weird. it has 3 VCA's, 3 filters, 2 LFOs and 2 EGS. it also shows 2 reverbs but you can only fit one reverb tank in each cabinet. i dont see any oscillators. so its a mish-mash of 4700 modules. maybe it was part of a larger system?
ReplyDeleteits too bad about the 4710's. they arent really VCAs- they are ring modulators that can function as VCA's. but as VCA's they dont sound that great. its on my list of things to do to get some proper VCA's for my paia modular.
