Poylyphatty?

Title link takes you to a fun post on Music Thing, speculating a polyphonic Little Phatty at Winter's NAMM. Hmm... Is he really just guessing or does Tom have himself a source? Image of course is Photoshopped.

My take?
They should come out with a cheap knobless rack that you can slave to your Little Phatty or Voyager. As for Mood modular? The audience would be too small, but they should come out with more Moogerfoogers to finish the set. All they need at this point is a good dual Oscillator based Moogerfooger and Envelopes. We have Ring mod, filter, delay, phaser and MURF already, so why not finish the set.

There's also a Little Phatty rack to consider. They did it with the Voyager.

  1. Polysynths always seemed to be ruined by only having 2 oscillators.

  2. It can be done. The SunSyn is priced pretty modestly, considering what you get in the box.

  3. A Moog employee mentioned on VSE a month or two back that the regular edition of the Little Phatty would be available sometime early next year. Same model but without wooden endpieces and Bob's signature. Rogue Music was taking pre-orders for it. Street price at $999. Maybe this will be the announcement at Winter NAMM....

  4. A racked Little Phatty would be great! 699 with more knobs...

  5. i don't understand why anyone would think a polyphonic Little Phatty is:

    a) not obvious based on the voice structure and interface.

    b) going to be called anything other than Big Phatty.

why on earth would that synth have that name if a Big Phatty wasn't at least in the scope over the near long term?

  6. Could have just been meant as a play on the idea of the Lil' Phatty being the little brother of the Voyager.

  7. ever consider the fact that the phrase "little phatty" is just a play on words? as in an oxymoron?

    guess you didnt

btw, its also a drug reference (for all you L7s out there)

but i wouldnt be surprised if they made a poly version at some point - somehow i doubt it would be this soon tho

  8. The Little Phatty is bigger than my little phatty, that's all I know.
