  1. He he, I know what you mean about the boxes - I quite like seeing them too, for some unexplained reason!

  2. Holy christ, who the hell cares?
Were you people all born in 1982 or something? What could possibly be novel or interesting to you about a TX81Z? I had one for years, programmed it to death, got rid of it. They're flat, lifeless and boring. If you really have to get fetishistic about Yamaha FM, at least go with the DX100, DX1 or SY77- those had a bit of possibility to them.

  3. "They're flat, lifeless and boring."

Mate, you can still find sounds in gear you've had for years!

All you need are good ideas. A machine is never 'lifeless and boring.'; it must be you.

  4. Flat lifeless and boring might be words used describe your GF but those aren't words that can ever be used to seriously describe the TX81Z. The TX rocks !

  6. Similarly, I recently picked up the much-reviled FB01 for peanuts, and it's been a whole lotta fun. Granted it helps to run it through a ton of FX (what synth doesn't, come to think of it). What goes around comes around, eh?

  7. Matrix: Perhaps you should drive a Volvo?

  8. You read my mind. I wanted a volvo for a while, but couldn't afford one. : )

  9. The tx81z is one fun synth! Anyhow i think the dx100 has the same sound engine. From what i can read and see, they are pretty much the same...

I love my tx81z, it's one of the cheapest synths around and is quite flexible. Of course, programming it is not too fun using the few buttons on it (and they double bounce on my unit).

Would anyone know where to get parts and service manuals for it ?

If anyone wants to get rid of their tx81z for free, i know quite a few people interested!

About the Volvo. Used ones (3 or 4 years old) are often about the same price as the cheapest brand new car. I could ramble for a while on Volvos :P

  10. I like the TX81z, but they're so common that I don't think this one - even in original box - is worth blogging.

  11. I liked to see the box. I got my unit without its box and always wondered what kind of box it was shipped in.

I also wonder, sometimes, about more important things than boxes. If such things exist.
