  1. you know, back in the day (c. early 80s) there were about 10 or so TB303's in the various pawn shops over the period of about 3 years. the price was $50-75CAD (about $40-60US) each. I never bought one. I never bought one because they were shit sounding. they still are shit sounding. funny that. stuipd me for not realizing that cheap-ass techno-dweebs would be willing to shell out upwards of $2000 for these at the peak but AFTER the cheap-ass techno-dweebs that pioneered their use in techno had their fill of them (presumable for that $50-75). same with the TR808 and 909 however those drum machines sound great.

it guess its now kind of like the stock market, where 'vintage' analogue synths are concerned.

so with that, what is selling cheap cheap now in the used market because its crap? that may one day bring you a huge profit!

  2. Aside from the fact that you're hard-pressed to make anything that's NOT a 303 sound like one, the instrument is high fidelity enough to use it for bass in a densely arranged track, not just in the techno world. And the user interface is just quirky enough to be inspiring to a lot of folks beyond the tiny little niche of acid whatever that spawned its comeback in the first place.

  3. Oh come on, don't tell me Hardfloor's TB Resuscitation isn't fucking awesome!

    Oh wait, I'm a techno-dweeb

  4. tb-303's are incredible sounding machines to my ears. Granted I would never leave one stock. I've owned and worked on more than 2 dozen. They are oustanding little machines. If I had to choose between my modified 303's or my Mono/Poly, Prodigy, or SH-5 I'm sorry to say the others are gone. So to each his own.

  5. I wonder what this fellow would think of the Devilfish mod.
