  2. coolies.

what a good time for modular synths.

  3. What happened to EAR anyway? It sort of disappeared and the makers went back to their original companies...? And they were supposed to make MOTM versions of their modules, which I was planning on buying, but they never did. LAME.

  4. My understanding is that EAR was basically a joint marketing effort for the three builders (Plan B, Livewire, and what was the other one?) when they were starting out. Now that they've all got some products out, evidently they don't see the need for the joint marketing anymore.

I too am awaiting some MOTM-format modules. Plan B has been busy cranking out new designs. Now that they have a fairly complete product line in the Eurorack format, maybe they'll get to doing some large formats.

  5. i've yet to get a reply to any emails sent to EAR over the last 12 months. Why bother with all the hype when you can't even be bothered to respond to potential customers?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think it's great they are doing a digital delay. BBD is nice but sometimes you just want digital...now i can get rid of my Boss pedal

  7. ear-group used to be Plan B, Livewire and with licence (probably obligation too) to produce Oakley Sound modules.

Today it looks like it was more like a springboard or attempt to gain credibility to certain Plan B Peter G.

    Dog ate Dog World!

YOU don´t buy modules from them, but from the resellers - be ready to ask for availability.
Well things might be different, if You are known artist!

  8. its funny how the bitches are always hiding under anonymous name...also I assume Peter is bust with NAMM at the moment but I have sent many emails and have had heaps of replies as have most people..

    ReplyDelete
  9. Well, should cray5656 ring any bells?

    ReplyDelete
  10. To the anonymous poster who said he never got a reply, try the Plan B list. I see replies there all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  11. To the anonymous that said EAR is there to promote Peter and Plan B? That doesn't make sense as it actually dilutes the Plan B brand. If I were Peter, I'd scrap EAR and go with Plan B, period. EAR appears to be there to support others. Synthbox for example is listed. Livewire decided to part ways and give up that support, so... You be the judge.

  12. Here's a classic example of pettiness: go to http://ear-group.com, the original domain. What does it do? It redirects to Livewire. That's absolute crap. I did a quick lookup on the domain and it looks like its registered by:

    Rightnour, Steve r@rtopia.net
    rtopia

Now why doesn't the domain go to EAR at http://www.ear-group.net?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Maybe ear-group.com domain is registered and owned by the original ear-group partner?

    Quote:
"Livewire decided to part ways and give up that support, so..."

    Could You elaborate?

    ReplyDelete
  14. > It redirects to Livewire. That's absolute crap.

Parnerships always seem to turn sour. Been there, done that.

    > Synthbox for example is listed.

That's one of his employees, though.

Oakley used to be listed, but they sat on it doing nothing for a year and lost it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Isn´t Synthbox only about new "fancy" Euro cases?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Elaborate on what? It's super easy to change a DNS record. It should point to the EAR site, not LiveWire. Someone's playing games at the expense of customers and it's obviously not Plan B. I don't have any inside scoop. This is just what I'm seeing from an outside perspective. If anonymous posters are going to come on here and post crap, I'm going to question it. I have no affiliation with the companies. I'm honestly telling you want it looks like from the outside from my perspective. It looks like someone has a personal beef with Plan b and is trying to vet via anonymous comments here and either that same or another individual is trying to do the same by having the ear-group.com domain point to Livewire. If I were Livewire, I'd be pissed that it points to my site, so you have to wonder about that as well. In this particular case, the only company coming out clean is Plan B.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Matrix, you said roughly the same thing on the metasonix thread. Grow up, it's not some ghetto conspiracy theory where people with "beef" sneak onto your blog or whatever the fuck, i just can't be bothered getting a blogger account for random comments.

EAR seems to have disintegrated, and that sucks. I was looking forward to those modules in MOTM. That's all. At least Oakley is back in the game!

PS: i was the first anon poster, at 4:55... this is my second comment

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ya, there's a lot of politics with so many of these modular synth makers.

Now, business is usualy cut-throat in my experience, but you want your front man to stay 'clean'. When you're a small shop, it's tough.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yep, and... from an outside perspective, Plan B looks clean to me. They reply to the questions I've seen on the Plan B list and they aren't the one's pointing ear-group.com to Livewire.

As for anonymous comments like the last one. I was about to reply but realized how stupid it is. Who knows who it is. For all I know it could me my dork friend playing with me.

BTW, the reason I did not remove them is because I'm glad this came up. The whole ear-group.com pointing to Livewire thing has been bugging me for a while, but I never put up a post on it. It just smells of a few individuals with a personal vendetta.

    ReplyDelete
  20. glad to see we are all talking about the actual modules

    ReplyDelete
  21. The modules! It´s quite interesting, when these are available for the common people.

Does that Milton Vista look like it needs 64bit unit rack?

    ReplyDelete
  22. it does look large

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yep, back to the modules. Guys, just be careful with these Plan B bashers. I smell something really, really fishy. And as log as ear-group.com points to Livewire, and these anonymous bashing posts come in, I don't trust them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. > Guys, just be careful with these Plan B bashers. I smell something really, really fishy.

Peter was blaming me for them at one point.

    ReplyDelete
  25. i will also back Peter up saying he even called me in Australia to help me out, now no company has ever done that to be b4! :-)

    big up Peter

    ReplyDelete
  26. i must say Plan B has been excellent with all my questions and concerns. i've always had responses within 12-24 hr. and never needed to "pester" anyone for an answer. Livewire has been helpful as well. i appreciate and enjoy both company's modules very much and look forward to seeing their new kit @ NAMM in 2 days....and to prove PlanB ships thier items show up at your door take a gander here.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Burstgenerator, I think I like the other picture next to it better. Cool hair! :P Is there a knob that adjusts the height on the modular?

    ReplyDelete
  28. "Regarding availiablity"

    What a joke. Sorta like:

"Send me back stuff I send You - Plan B to repair"

    It´s vintage, when it´s back.

    ReplyDelete
  29. and mine

  30. i am spewing I cant make it to NAMM

    ReplyDelete
  31. OHHHH SNAPPPPPPPPPPPP

    SOMEONE JUST GOT PWNED

    ReplyDelete
  32. i got booted off the plan B list, but maybe i can ask peter here:

what was the plan for the vertical gate jacks from the right side? also will the pulse bus A and pulse bus B switches have a position for A+B (as on the AS oberkorn 4 position switches: X, Y, X+Y, Off) or just A, B?

the new miltons look great peter, ill definitly be adding one to the model 15 i have!

    ReplyDelete
  33. quote peter: "Vertical sequencing will be added to a future expansion module."

awesome, i think this is a really distinctive feature you should absolutely provide as an expansion - vertical sequencing plus a few schmiltons... daaaaaang! i think the model 16 under control of a milton is going to be ALOT of fun to play with!
