Wow, that's some amazing keyboard technique... it's almost as if they're not really playing their instruments... ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL...
ReplyDeleteAre the wires plugged into anything there? I sure would like me some wireless analog synthesizers
ReplyDelete"Back then they'd have a 900 pound tape machine, and a 6200 pound video film recorder, and they'd have to get these huge warehouses and hang all the video reels from special ceiling hooks.
ReplyDeleteTrained monkeys would then use 3M products to glue pipe-cleaners to audio-tapes stored in the sub-basement (hidden from vague em fluctuations).
So one can clearly expect some imperfections -- monkeys are only so good. They wanted to use Gypsies, but there weren't enough in North America at the time."

the only real "instrument" is that real to real in the back
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell is he 'playing' chords on a Moog Source?
ReplyDeleteI think its great when the camera zooms in on the tape machine as if its a member of the band. classic.

ReplyDeletei think clarke is o nthe far right, no hat - but looking might scruffy!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the miming thing goes, I read about this reacently in Nick Mason's book... apparently it was SOP for the British music shows of the day. The producers didn't want anything plugged in because they thought the cables cluttered up the shots. So a lot of the bands didn't take them very seriously, and they did a lot of silly stuff whenever they thought the (non-musical) producers wouldn't notice. It does kind of make the whole affair look like an Archies cartoon, though.
