  2. Yeah, this one really has be excited.

  3. This smells like some bad april fool's joke.

    Like every year.

    ReplyDelete
  4. will be checking back later on for the full story :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. I am now thinking it's from Access. That's my vote (ya gotta pick one).

    ReplyDelete
  6. "Yeah, this one really has be excited."

    Gleat Engrish!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think its from Oberheim.

    ReplyDelete
  8. This looks more real than pic #2, but still fake.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm guessing it's American, not European - it's all in the typefaces... ;)

    Oberheim is a possibility...

    ReplyDelete
  10. it's going to be too expensive

    ReplyDelete
  11. Maybe it's the new look of that Kurzweil VA-1? :D

    ReplyDelete
  12. I say it's the reincarnation of Kurzweil's VA1, without the VA. With Ray back at the helm, who knows what things are in the works????

    ReplyDelete
  13. And that SPDIF looks awfully familiar...my K2500 has it as well!

    ReplyDelete
  14. guess what else has spdif in? a certain virus ti, one might say, eh.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Kurzweil theory definitely goes along with the 'real' parameter values of Hz and ms rather than just 0-127.

I checked the old VA-1 pictures when the first thread was posted...didn't look anything alike, but as mentioned supposedly Ray is back...and it has been awhile since the VA-1 was shown.

A Kurzweil with a knobby interface would be...frighteningly awesome! :)

  16. come on. this is exciting? it looks like a 15 year old design aesthetic. i hope that's a prototype, too, as the type silk screening is wearing off!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Its a good thing I don't buy synths based on aesthetics.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It looks like the max values go to 63 - just like the Oberheim Xpander. Similar scheme too, leds above encoders. And Oberheim did make white panel synths...

    ReplyDelete
  19. hmm. I really have no idea. I would go along with kurzweil. They haven't had anything in a long time and are capable of anything digital-wise. Access does go overboard though and aren't afraid to miss the price point of the mass market (they took no prisoners on the Virus Ti polar - absolutely beautiful design).
Oberheim is possible I guess. Most all synths indicate the actual 128 steps for midi controls, either -64 to 63 for centered controls or 0 to 127 when you rotate the controls.Like the guy above said I think for me this thing will be way out of my league price-wise.

  20. haha, you bet it's exciting! what the hell?!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Smells like a new Kurzweil or a new Waldorf

    ReplyDelete
  22. E-mu? Hey, it could happen!

    ReplyDelete
  23. MFB has finally moved out of their little shell cases!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Someone say Casio now.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Native Instruments!

    ReplyDelete
  26. hmmm looks like a creamware creation to me

    ReplyDelete
  27. BTW, I'll be putting the post up at 12:00 AM EST, so that's 9:00 PM PST for those on the West Coast in the Americas. For the rest, check your time tables. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  28. > E-mu? Hey, it could happen!

    No, it couldn't.

    ReplyDelete
  29. matrix: We're on Daylight Savings now, remember? You mean EDT.

    :P

    ReplyDelete
  30. Looks like some Prophet VS type of synth. I doubt it will be from Creamware or Kurzweil, but who know's. Maybe Arturia?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oberheim is Gibson and Gibson can't make a web site that supports Safari so I doubt they could get a new synthesizer to market. Not Arturia either since the knobs look nothing like the knobs in ther new (upcoming) hardware synth. Access is a 10% possibility but I'm not thinking it's them either. I will guess though that it's a well-known and/or classic synth manufacturer.

    ReplyDelete
  32. it's got a POST button!

now I can play with my synth and post to matrixsynth at the same time!

    yea!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey Matrix,

Could we have just one tiny little clue? Pretty please?

    ReplyDelete
  34. You're asking Matrix for a clue??

    This is to laugh.
Matrix is the most clueless one here.

    ReplyDelete
  35. sure looks like Kurzweil, the fonts and styling don't look like Access. Even the colors, the Mangler is a similar color scheme.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Looks kind of Radikal to me, prob not.

    Zam

    ReplyDelete
  37. I say Yamaha.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was going to say Oberheim, too, because of the buttons... and it reminds me a bit of the semi-recent OB12...

    ReplyDelete
  39. LOL! regarding the Post button. I finally found a solution to the conflict of blogging vs. playing my synths. : )

What's really interesting though is how that actually would be a cool idea. You can blog via your cell phone. Imagine playing a synth and then hitting Post followed by playing what you want to Post and then hitting Post again to have it actually post the sample. Like instant podcasting.

I'm dying to put the post up. Just 4.5 hours to go! : )

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ok, I'll bite on the clue since we are so close and technically it is midnight in some places.

    So, here it goes:

There are a couple of clues on Matrixsynth-b. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Soo what you're saying is... it's a new Yamaha CS ?

    ReplyDelete
  42. could just as easily be ....a new prophet???
    that would be something crazy

    ReplyDelete
  43. alas but no, it wouldnt not.

it may looketh like a man, but inside it be-eth an abonimation! for the creator has forsaken us and left this namesake realm... yarrgh!

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's the new Metasonix VA.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Synchronize Swatches!

    T-Minus 4:00
    :3

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well, the fonts (except for the part that says "Mixer" at the top) do look like Oberheim stuff, and the encoder layout looks a LOT like the mighty mighty Matrix 12, so my guess is that this is the NEW ARP AVATAR... My second guess is this is a new Oberheim. That would be VERY exciting IF Tom Oberheim is in charge. My third guess is that it's a new incarnation of the OB-MX, which may excite some, and frighten others.

    ReplyDelete
  47. it doesnt look very high end commercial type thing

im doubtful on one of the big corps behind this

    ReplyDelete
  48. Still reminds me alot of my CS6x

    ReplyDelete
  49. I should get a tshirt or a patch with my name on it if I'm right..

    or a soild gold toilet.

    ReplyDelete
  50. yea, I had a suspicion that this thing was following the AN1X / CS sort of color schemes and designs.. it wasn't till I looked at the B page that I saw the 6Rs.. and then that made me think the layout on the image was similar to my CS6x..

I could be wrong.. but it was fun guessing..

    ReplyDelete
  51. A Tom Oberheim design would obviously come out of Marion not Gibson. The thought of Gibson making [another] synthesizer is laughable!

    ReplyDelete
  52. It seems unlikely that a big 3 player like Yamaha would leak through matrixsynth. Too much corporate stuff going on.

    ReplyDelete
  53. My vote is for Yamaha. Compare the knobs to a CS6R, as metrosonus suggested. The buttons, the LED positions above and to the left of the buttons, the fonts, the terminology...Yamaha. Why is it so freakin beat-up though? I don't know, man, I don't think this is real.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Has anyone mentioned Roland yet?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Software company gone hardware? 4 filters and 8 envs. That must be a hardware version of a plugin. Something like Arturias Origin.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Check out this tantilizing comment straight from the Clavia site :
"Pack your bags and go to Frankfurt, Germany, and the musicmesse March 28-31, 2007 - where we plan to once again amaze the world of pro-keyboard players! The Clavia Team."
Whats the date today? Oh yeah...one day BEFORE the 28! No wonder Matrix has to wait!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. It obviously doesn't fit Clavia's color scheme. And see http://www.clavia.se/ This is clearly not the same synth.

    ReplyDelete
  58. clearly shmearly

    ReplyDelete
  59. it's so exciting...like the final minutes of an ebay auction...

    ReplyDelete
  60. No! It's like the last four minutes of an eBay auction!

    ReplyDelete
