To reduce spam, comments for posts older than one week are not displayed until approved, usually same day. Do not insult people. For items for sale, do not ask if it is still available. Check the auction link and search for the item. Auctions are from various sellers and expire over time. Posts remain for the pics and historical purposes. This site is meant to be a daily snapshot of some of what was out there in the world of synths.

I saw the white box in a post on Musicthing about a year ago. It is some sort of newly produced swedish analogsythesizer with an oldschool-design, i remember it looked really good but too bad i forgot about the name of the thing
ReplyDeletewow - i can't believe this is actually something i can comment on, but the musician barely pictured here on the right side is David Slusser, electronics whiz and sound guy (and sax player). the synth pictured on the left with the knobs is a completely customized thing he's had for around 20 years, called the Slussomatic, a serious noise-making tool based around something like the Atari sound chip in the 2600 and made especially for him by someone whose name i've forgot. it's now so old that the contacts are are all dirty and no control moves cleanly which is now definitely part of its semi-chaotic charm. Slusser is a bit of an unknown sound master, having worked with Angelo Badalamente & David Lynch on music in the Twin Peaks series, and studied w/ Ben Burtt (Star Wars sound guy), and played with folks like John Zorn frequently.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Thanks scott r.
