"PLASTICS 1980 NHK Techno pop feature"

Reminded me a bit of early Cure and PIL. Guess the synths.

  1. Most people concur that the started as an eccentric hommage and or parody the B-52s. They were sort of a party band. David Byrne upon hearing their demo hooked them up with the B-52's manager and he eventually hooked them up with an Island Records contract. Too much stress and disagreement led to them breaking up. Though their international contract means they almost rival YMO as the best known band of the era with overseas fans.

  2. The video for "Top Secret Man" got wide exposure in North America via its appearance in an episode of SCTV, shown back to back with the vid for Talking Heads' "Once In a Lifetime."
