Heaven for Chris

flickr by quasarsglow.

"Surrounded by things he loves. The place had about 250 individual musical instrument stores."

Reminds me of FiveG. Anyone know where this is?

Update via QuasarsGlow in the comments:
"It is in Seoul, South Korea. The place is huge. Its called Nagwon or Nangwon. I forget which, but yes, about 2-300 shops full of musical kit. Loads of pianos, guitars, brass, woodwinds, synths, effects pedals. Chris in the photo ended up buying a Mu-tron biphase effects pedal and a left-handed cutaway acoustic guitar for about $700US all told."

  1. In my dreams. :) I'm guessing it's most definitely Japan and possibly FiveG? What throws me off is I thought FiveG was one shop.

  2. There is a flea market of sorts that my girlfriend told me about when she visited Korea. Apparently there was booth after booth of electronic music equipment, and the building stretched about two city blocks.

  3. How could that remind you of 5Gs? Their shop is tiny, though crammed (with much taster bits) and the only window is in the door.

  4. Nope, not Japan. Definitely Korea, judging from the sign in Korean in the background. Looks like FiveG's got some competition...

  5. Ah, you are right! Bad me. Embarrassing considering I grew up in LA, had a number of Korean friends and was surrounded by Korean writing. Assumptions always make an ass out of me. Oh well, apologies to any Korean speakers out there. Just used to the FiveG shots cropping up ever year.

So... This has me even more intrigued now. Where is this place?

  6. Well that Memorymoog adds credibility but nothing else there seems out of the ordinary. Wonder if those go for more or less in Korea?

I doubt anyone comes near FiveG at least in Asia. Any real shops besides Echigoya or Marks in Japan with a decent amount of reasonably rare gear?
