I thought it sounded sweet...
ReplyDeleteAt what point in your life with synthesizers do you get the white gloves? Is there a ceremony? Do they arrive in an unmarked box in the post? Is it a kind of Free after X number of synths bought type deal? Are there boxes of white gloves secretly being stashed in keyboard shops around the world?
Anyways I liked it. Very cool indeed
Actually sounded pretty decent, but those gloves are retarted.
ReplyDeleteYay.
ReplyDeletehe's playing a piano?
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteIt's not crap but considering people are focusing on the gloves and being sort of polite says something. I guess my first comment is the sound design really mundane for a serious load of hardware. Given the performer is far from a virtuoso there really isn't much to be said aside from the gloves and the presumably very high cost of all those modules. There is much to learn from people who have succeeded in arranging classical music using synthesizers. It seems on the surface quite cut and dry but when you assume that then that's all you get, either something mediocre or gimicky. The person mentioning tweaking is certainly on the right track, but it's more than that. Using dynamic expressive controllers sure helps. Also I don't think I've ever heard a good synth arrangement that plays x number of patches overdubbed beginning to end. One needs evocative new sounds being introduced in relation to the music throughout the piece. I mean you don't just change sounds to make it less mundane, you change the sounds to express what the music is saying.
ReplyDeleteSome people must wear gloves because they suffer from palm sweating (aka Hyperhidrosis). They may ruin all they touch if not wearing gloves. Does this make them retarded ?
ReplyDeleteIf that is in fact the case..I apologize ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had moist hands of destruction.

That's clearly not the case as he's not wearing them in the first video.
It might be an old timie piano thing but he's not playing a piano. Also his chops are not good enough on the keyboard to qualify for white gloves while playing a piano.
It's clearly an affectation.
Don't want to focus on the gloves. It is very cool. It's shot well, sounds good and displays some lovely kit. For me it's kind of an anachronism but that's ok.
