  1. I love the QY series of sequencers from Yamaha .. still using my QY700 in its current permanent rig (QY700+Machinedrum+Indigo2==synth nirvana!)

One thing is for sure, even though the QY's were made in the 90's for the MIDI world, they still keep on ticking and are as valuable an asset as ever before in a modern, bloated, studio rig. If you have a chance to pick one up, don't overlook the utility of using it as a remote, separate workstation for your favourite MIDI synths, and ignore all the DAW'ification of things .. having such a rig, in a permanent sort of configuration, can be a godsend when you're out of inspiration and just want something to get some ideas down, or noodle around, without waiting for a bootup, plugin-dir scan, email check, etc. .. ;)

anyway, the QY300 is a lovely little beast, but keep an eye out for the QY700 .. and maybe i'll do a little video demo of my holy-trinity rig for a future matrixsynth expo on the QY sequencer love ..

  2. QY70 was my baby for a long time. The 300 seems to have a lot in common with it. There are things I miss on Yams newer sequencers, and why I probably keep a QY70 around even though a lot of sequncer functionalty has been passed on down, but not all, there were some cool things in the QYs. I miss the swing quantizer, chord changes and sequencing of chords, "jump"ing parts of measures too. Be intresting to get a 300 just to see how much of it was difrent or passed along, hmmm...

  4. Can anyone please tell me whether the power input for a Yamaha QY300 has the positive charge in the middle or on the outside of the jack or connection into the instrument? One can tell by looking at the specifications on the power adaptor (I lost mine and need a replacement). Thanks. Greetings from Aalst, Belgium.
