Maybe it's just me, but those patchcord jacks seem like they might be awfully break-downable. I've got some definite questions about the durability of 'em over the long-term.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to the comment above....
ReplyDeleteIf this guy can make this beautiful synth he can certainly make a few new patch cables in the future (if he needs to)
Yet anoth DIY modular that puts every production modular to shame.

ReplyDeleteI love synths. I love drooling over my neighbors synths. This synth looks great but that doesn't mean it sounds great or is better then anything else. One thing I think we all need to remember is that its not the tool that matters... its how you use the tool.
The most important fact about the Airböurne Synth may be, that is using FPGAs in most of it´s modules, so actually the VCO is a digital realized oscillator (via FPGAs) driven by a voltage. Same for the filter and the LFO´s and Env´s, the VCA is a "normal" analog one.
ReplyDeleteThe connectors are from the professional audio/video patch panel manufacturer http://www.ghielmetti.ch/, where Martin is working, so I think the patch cords are quite durable.
Georg.
