"Once upon a time, Don Buchla had a garage sale. Synth geeks familiar with Don and his work AND lucky enough to be on his call list when crazy things like this happen, got a couple of weeks to buy the NOS stock of 200 and 100 series inventory that he had left. I bought a fairly large pile of it for The Audities Foundation collection. The last modules to get finished where these 2 oscillators. The parts are NOS from Don or new parts currently manufactured to orginal spec. They were assembled by the very talented Mark Verbos in New York this last winter and function beautifully. I have been testing them in our studio system for the last 3 months and found NO issues." via Chris
10 grand.
ReplyDeletethe holy mother of oscillators.......i am dark green with envy of who ever ends up with these.....God bless don buchla

ReplyDeleteI guess this means Dave Kean wants to sue you.
;)
3000 and reserve not met?
ReplyDeletegoodness.
Are they still available?
Stop for a moment...
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Mellotron still existed...
And they are selling those crap for 6000$ ?
I mean... are they REALLY selling those?....
i think it means that David Kean owns mellotron and is making sure people are aware that the company is still under ownership so people don't try to make money off of his company. which i am sure he has a lot of cash invested in.
ReplyDeleteits not like Arp or something thats out of business.
huh? where's this Mellotron stuff coming from? auction ended early. someone maybe made him a huge offer?
ReplyDeleteWhy is the mellotron comment in a thread about Buchla oscillators.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could afford the Buchla oscs, they look like fascinating pieces.
I still have several of these. I would like to trade for other 200 series modules.
ReplyDeleteor $20,000 for 4 ;)

ReplyDelete"Why is the mellotron comment in a thread about Buchla oscillators"
ReplyDeletewww.audities.org
why are those buchla oszillator so expensive
ReplyDeletewhy are those buchla oszillator so expensive
ReplyDeleteSupply and demand. New old stock Buchla 259s don't come around every day.
However, given that the auction closed without reaching the reserve price, it would seem the seller overrated the demand.
the seller actually sold them for 50% more then he expected and ended the auction early
ReplyDeleteAh ha. Well, that makes more sense then. Like I said, an essentially brand new pair of 259s is a fairly uncomon event.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the sole bidder lives in Nigeria. Hmmm.....
ReplyDeletesince chris muir sent the link, did he purchase as well. i'm sure he'll read this so, chris? you've got space for one in your e :)
ReplyDeleteNo way I could find the budget for these. If I was given one, I could certainly find the space, though :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to outbid Rick on the 191 that's on eBay right now, but that isn't going to happen either, I'm afraid.
