The HP Sweep Oscillator

via this Criagslist post. via brian commes.

"This is a vintage unit made by Hewlett Packard, super heavy!
you can get some nice sweep oscillator sounds by turning the dials.
comes with RCA adaptor cables
If you see this post, it's still available."

  1. And in the meantime while you're trying to make sweepy noises with it, you can roast some marshmallows!

This is a microwave-range RF device, not a thing for making audio sounds. I don't know what the poster was doing with it, but this device is definitely NOT something for electronic music.

  2. It Sweeps, but does it Swoop?

I'm gonna go rest in my hyperbaric waveguide now.

  3. doh......Hey I saw it on C'list , it looked cool, I ook the lister at his word....sent Matrix a link.... the rest is history...sorry about that.....actually though at some high frequencies you can get neat sound artifacts, for example I have an old tube audio oscillator that when I push it above 15Khz, which is way beyond where I can hear, and send the signal to a frostwave Sonic Alienator and a delay pedal all kinds of strange stuff comes out.....well the next picture I send matrix better have a keyboard or I'll skip the opportunity to display my native ignorance ....
