Dang... somebody call the bushings police...
ReplyDeleteThe PPG Wave has been drinking... not me.
ReplyDeletei dont know, im not buying this guys story. he claims to not know much about the ppg or mpu-101 yet he also bought something for a roland jupiter restoration a few years back from chipforbrains. i could be wrong, but might this be another seller playing stupid to unload a seriously defective piece of gear? the bushings arent impressive at all...
ReplyDeleteMan, that's ugly...at least the bushings on mine haven't gotten that far gone yet. Still need to replace 'em, tho.
ReplyDeleteLooks like my mother in-laws teef
ReplyDeletewhen bushings get like that, you should question "what environmental factors contributed to that"?! the same factors could contribute to other problems with that synth.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a matter of environmental factors. PPG Wave 2.3s (and 2.2s, I think) along with several other synths such as certain Pro-Ones, etc were made with Pratt-Read keyboards that had, well, more or less defective bushings. They were all subject to wearing out LONG before the lifespan of the synth in question, and should be replaced. There's a couple of companies that do a nice business in replacement bushing kits for these various synths due to these chronic problems.
ReplyDeleteif you are going to buy pratt reed bushings, do NOT buy them from Wine Country. They are a total ripoff pricewise. I got the bushings for my Pro-One from sounddoctorin (google it) at a fraction of the price of WCS.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Wine Country
ReplyDeleteI think most wines are overpriced. Best stick to Blue Nun, Night Train, and Cisco.
But, living in the future as I do, I can sip on a nice vintage 2983 Chateau La Bush with my canned SPAM, relax and stretch out in my chrome bubble-dome.
quite the comedian, eh doktor future
